Why must you find liberalism or conservatism in everything. Maybe these people all vote Republican, or Libertarian. Or maybe it's just not relevant. You're a sad man.

It started about midnight on June 16 when a group of friends was finishing a dinner of marinated stakes and jumbo shrimp on the back patio of a District of Columbia home. That's when a hooded man slid through an open gate and pointed a handgun at the head of a 14-year-old girl.

"Give me your money, or I'll start shooting," he said, according to D.C. police and witnesses.

So let me get this straight. A guy walks into this place and puts a gun to a childs head, and giving him a glass of wine and sending him on his way, while he has a gun, was a good thing? So I guess when he goes to rob someone else drunk, or shoots a kid the next time he tries the same, you'll feel good about it. Nice.

Ahh, it's the same joke you made in the paternety thread. Oh, that wasn't a joke? How the hell can I keep up with your advanced, shifting sense of humor?

Someone stopping a gun-toting criminal by giving him a glass of wine I thought was pretty funny, and I doubt if it's part of any NRA self defense class!

Maybe this will be a new way of handling hostage situations, wine and hugs, not a bad idea now that I think about it. Makes me all warm and fuzzy.

I commend the family for the outside-of-the-box thinking. It worked with this criminal. Would it work with all criminals? Most likely not, but all that matters is that it worked with this one.

    Regards,
    Chris

You'd have to actually try some Chateau Malescot St-Exupery to understand. You don't get that stuff out of a box.
