Liberal Democrats cant figure out why no one is willing to vote for them--it so simple! They never have any solutions..They only complain out EVERYTHING! From Kerry's "I have a plan" speech, to Hillary's "Lets keep playing the fear card" crack, why is it that they NEVER say what they would do to correct all these apparent "problems" they keep complaining about?

    For starters, how about...

    Social Security
    Tax reform
    Tort reform
    Healthcare reform
    Education reform

I have a solution. Do exactly the opposite of whatever the Republicans offer as a solution.

That will at least ease the slow suffering of this nation.

Or you could listen to the libertarians have to offer, oh wait, judging by this forum they are the same as the Liberals.

BlueTalon, these are all big subjects, but here a few examples of liberal ideas. Of course, there are others, and these are just some things that I could think of without researching further.

Social Security -- changing the age at which you get benefits; increasing the social security wage base, creating additiona retirement plans like the Roth IRA.

Tax reform -- implement a progressive income tax; close loopholes; reinstate death tax for $2 million+ estates.

Tort reform -- I don't think it's tort reform you want; you want caps on the amount of money people can get if they are injured. Since the only language that corporations understand is money, how else do you think we could get a corporation to change its behavior rather than just pay fines? Even today, there are instances of corporations paying fines rather than changing behavior.

Healthcare reform -- national health care, supplemented by private health care, like they have in many European countries.

Education reform -- improve teacher/student ratios, create more after school programs, modernize schools with technology and new books

If they put a sticky on the top of the page with a link to lewrockwell you would have nothing to post.

BTW, you will only have to put up with me for another day and a half :)

I can't believe you posted that with a straight face. It's not like the democrats don't have solutions, you just don't agree with them (and you may be right not to, but they're still offering SOMETHING).

If you'd like, we can have ELO make stuff up for you, in your absence (like the first part of this post). That is, would you like me to point you to where I call attention to articles from others sources, or should I not expose you to be full of shiznit again?

Hey, wait a minute! You got a problem being left alone by the government? I thought it was the liberals who wanted the government up their buts and in your business. Oh, right, you "conservatives" (that's a laugh!) like government and cops all over us for real important stuff like smoking weed, having sex with the wrong person, and paying tons of taxes to cover the massive debt we're in. Not to mention pre-emptive war and corporate welfare and environmental destruction. Yep, that's real conservative. I can't tell the difference from "conservatives" or "liberals" anymore!

That's rhetoric, it differs from a comment with substance.

Some democrats would immediately pull out of Iraq.

They believe taxes provide for social services and should not be lowered.

They think health insurance should be provided to all.

And yes, they think they would do a better job than Republicans have done.

Feel free to disagree with their ideas (I do), but saying they don't have any ideas is dishonest (assuming you know better) and just shows you want to play word games.

The problem is, that the Democrats sole ideas are pulled from Fantasy land as they are not feasible.

I dont think that anyone wants to deprive people of health care and affordable housing, the problem is who pays for it?

Then there's the plain philosophical difference in government vs individual responsibility for one's own well being.

I agree. What makes liberals liberal is that they are idealistic and sometimes not practical enough. What makes conservatives conservative is that they are too practical and sometimes don't see that change for the better IS possible.

Isn't it possible to drop the partisan rhetoric/demagogery and for once just accept that all sides have some good, practical ideas, but no one side should get to decide whats best for us all?

As of right now, I'm completely disgusted with the image and the agenda that the Republicans have shoved down our throats, but thats not to say I couldn't see the Democrats doing something equally repulsive if they had the executive, legislative, and judiciary branches all tied up for their own.

As I've said before, the only thing worse than a two party system is a one party system.

    I can tell the difference.

Conservatives want things to go back to how things were in the '50's.

    Progressives realize that's not possible.
