For years after Brady took the Pats to the SB, all we heard was how Brady was a "system" QB and that it was BB who was the real mastermind.

Now, the media is questioning whether Belichick can win without Brady.

So I got to thinking.

What other GREAT COACHES have won it all with different starting QBs? And if they didn't, are they still considered Great?

I was thinking about this and I can't really think of any, except maybe Joe Gibbs (Theismann and Williams) and George Seifert (Montana and Young).

I don't remember anyone questioning Gibbs' or Seifert's coaching abilities or saying that it was just the player.

So, why, now, all of a sudden, would that be the case for Belichik and Brady?

Gibbs also won with Mark Rypien, so 3 with 3 different QBs, an incredibly underrated accomplishment. But your point remains.

You're right on Parcells...Shula won 2 Super Bowls, both with Bob Griese. He did not win an NFL championship except in 68 when they lost to the Jets.

Yes, Shula did with Moorall and Griese. Parcells with Simms and Hostetler.

But what about the others.. .Holmgren only won with Favre. Neither has won anything since.

Cowher only won with Roethslingberger.

Billick only won with Dilfer.

Johnson only won with Aikman.

Seriously, I think that the Media is fishing.. big time.. with this.

Wasn't Moorall the QB for the SB of 72?

Knoll and Bradshaw, J Johnson and Aikman, Landry's 2 Super Bowls were both with Staubach, Lombardi and Bart Starr, Shanahan and Elway.

Nobody is saying that Knoll, Landry, Lombardi aren't great coaches. But yes, DaBruinz is right that nobody holds it against them that they only won with Hall of Fame quarterbacks.

most of those guys are considered a step below some of the others but there are a few who won with one guy who are on the top rung and I would put BB up their already. If BB were to win his fourth with another QB I think he would be platooned to the very top even above Lombardi.

That's a great point.
