    Gerrick McPhearson, CB, Maryland

    http://www.nflfans.com/x/2006/showprospect.php?key=Gerrick McPhearson

On McPhearson: Fifth-year senior who enters 2005 as the starter at field cornerback ... fastest player on the team and certainly one of the fastest, if not the fastest, in the ACC ... despite a strong junior season, still has not seemingly reached his potential ... named All-ACC in indoor track for his third-place finish at the 2005 ACC Indoor Championships ... school record-holder with a 6.73 in the 60-meter dash, breaking the mark of Renaldo Nehemiah ... an Iron Terp who also posted a 42-inch vertical jump, 365-pound bench press and 515-pound squat ... vertical jump is a Terp record for a defensive back and his 40 time of 4.21, posted this past spring, is the fastest ever by any Maryland player (regardless of position).

Personal: Gerrick McPhearson was born December 29, 1983 ... son of Kim and Gerrick McPhearson ... majoring in criminology and criminal justice ... father played defensive back at Boston College and with the New England Patriots ... brother, Derrick, is a freshman football player at the University of Illinois.

    Derrick Martin*, CB, Wyoming

    http://www.nflfans.com/x/2006/showprospect.php?key=Derrick Martin*

UW Last Season: Derrick Martin will be a leading All-America candidate in 2005. He ranked 14th in the nation in passes defended in 2004. Martin earned Second Team All-MWC honors as a sophomore in '04. He was named the National Defensive Player of the Week by the Bronko Nagurski Award Committee following his outstanding performance against Ole Miss on Sept. 25, 2004. Martin broke up an unheard of seven passes, made nine tackles and came away with a spectacular, diving interception in the end zone to thwart a potentially game-tying drive by the Rebels. The sophomore also earned Mountain West Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors for his Ole Miss performance. Martin has received numerous 2005 preseason honors, including: being ranked as the No. 20 cornerback in the nation by the Sporting News; and being selected as an Honorable Mention All-American by Street & Smith's.

High School: Martin was one of the most sought after players in the State of Colorado his senior year. He earned All-Colorado and All-State Class 5A honors from The Denver Post his senior season. The All-Colorado team is the All-State team for all classifications. Martin was named the Most Valuable Player of the Denver Prep 5A league as a senior. A team captain, he was an outstanding quarterback and defensive back at Thomas Jefferson High School. As a senior, Martin completed 96 of 185 passes for 1,475 yards and 10 TDs. He carried the ball 138 times for 830 yards and three rushing touchdowns. Martin led his high school team to a 7-4 record as a junior and helped Thomas Jefferson advance to the quarterfinals of the 2001 state playoffs. His senior season, he guided T.J. to a 10-3 record and the 2002 state semifinals, before losing to eventual state champion Columbine. In four years on the T.J. football team, he earned four letters and helped T.J. compile a 38-10 record and win four City Championships. An all-around athlete, Martin was the starting point guard on his high school basketball team where he led the state in steals through much of his senior season. He earned All-City honors in basketball, was a three-year letterman and was a team captain. He also excelled on the track team. He ran career bests of 10.5 in the 100 meters, 22.3 in the 200 and 48.6 in the 400 meters. Martin was part of T.J.'s 4 x 100 meter relay team that placed sixth in the State Championships his junior year. Martin achieved honor roll all four years of high school. He was named a Mayor's Mile High Academic Scholar, and earned Renaissance Academic Scholar honors two years. He was also a class representative to the Thomas Jefferson High student council. His high school football coach was Dan Turnbull. Martin was also recruited by Colorado, Colorado State, Missouri, Oregon and Utah.

    Ronnie Prude, CB, LSU

    http://www.nflfans.com/x/2006/showprospect.php?key=Ronnie Prude

Very much like Randall Gay in physical attributes, and in terms of the way he has progressed at LSU.

Granted another year of eligibility by the NCAA ... Listed on the roster as a senior for the second straight year ... After coming up short in being a qualifier as a freshman, is now on pace to graduate, thus regaining another year of eligibility ... Expected to step in and start at one of the cornerback positions for the Tigers after being LSU's starting nickel back in 2004 ... Consistently one of the top performers on coverage units on special teams a year ago ... One of the most athletic players on the team ... Originally signed with the Tigers as a wide receiver ... Goes into final season with LSU with 60 career tackles and 2 interceptions in 39 games, 8 of which have been starts.

2005 : 54 tackles, 12 PBUs, tops on the team in ST tackles

    We need some CB help!

This guys sounds talented, we have some extra picks in the 3rd., and 5th. rounds. I imagine BB and Pioli will be addressing this area in those rounds. This guy looks like a solid pick!

Shannon James is more of a safety than a CB. I like Derrick Martin out of the players you mentioned Drew. Ronnie Prude is also an interesting one since he played for Saban.
