Re: Colts fire DC Larry Coyer

HUH? Doesn't really makes sense. Does Caldwell think he will still have a job after this year? I mean the cat is already out of the bag, the donkey has already gone down the trail, why???

Unless they are bringing in Eric Mangini, that would liven up Sunday's game.......

Re: Colts fire DC Larry Coyer

They might as well fire the janitor, at least he's actually responsible for cleaning up a mess.

Looks that there will be some new faces for the Colts this weekend. They fired the defensive coordinator and they have given the starting QB job to Dan Orlovsky. Can't be worse than Painter.

Re: Colts fire DC Larry Coyer

Caldwell's next act: rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic.

Re: Colts fire DC Larry Coyer

LOL Probably the best remaining coach on the staff had his hands not been tied by Polian's recent roster building fiasco... But someone had to be sacrificed. The natives are getting restless. You think Andy Reid has problems... They not only want Caldwell's head - many are clamoring for both Polian's on a spike...

We may see Orlovsky this week in an effort to show the locals he's open to change and done telling them it's all correctable... He's now up to admitting he is actually fielding a team with players who have no business on an NFL field. So he fires a coordinator just to show everyone whose fault that was...

Orlovsky started a game in Detroit on that 0-16 team, so he has another chance to notch a start on his 2nd 0-16 team.

Reiss twittered....Painter benched, Orlovsky starting at QB

Re: Colts fire DC Larry Coyer

This is a multiple choice quiz.

What was the thought going through Caldwell's head when he learned that the DC would be fired:

A.) Finally. Now we can get down to the business of winning football games.
B.) Wow, that was a close one!
C.) When asked about this by the media remember its important to maintain continuity, so just stare off into the distance with a blank look on my face.
D.) I wonder what it would be like if chewing gum were made of tooth enamel and teeth were made of Chiclets?
E.)
F.) All of the above, just not in that order.

Re: Colts fire DC Larry Coyer

Coyer's probably grateful.

Figures, right after Caldwell pronounced Painter was improving...LOL

Great quote from one of the Colt Freaks on firing the DC to facilitate change...

OK, one step. "Fire Fangio" had such a nice ring to it back when. Where is that guy right now, by the way?? Oh yeah, he's the DC for the 49ers, the #1 defense in the NFC!!!

Coaching is a problem in Indy, but it's only the tip of the iceberg this time around...

From Boston.com:

"Orlovsky is a 28-year old quarterback in his seventh NFL season. He last started as a member of the Detroit Lions during their 0-16 season in 2008."

If our ST can consistently pin 'em back near the goal line we may not have to score on offense this week.

It's "E".

He's the poor QB who ran out the back of the EZ for a safety...

But not on purpose. He just didn't know where he was.

So he has experience at this sort of thing.

I guess that falls into the "Get players who fit your system" approach.

in all seriousness, orlovsky isn't as bad as everyone makes him out to be (that one play killed his reputation)

Orvlovsky 6 seasons in the NFL

one partial 2008 season on the lions and 5 full seasons on Madden 3d

Re: Colts fire DC Larry Coyer

It's like trying to frame someone else after murdering a person and getting caught red-handed. The Colts can't even scapegoat properly.
