In other news, water is still wet.

While many fans thought this would be the case, the original rumblings out of Pittsburgh was that they weren't going to use the franchise tag at all.

They needed to do this. As tremendous as hes been, Harrison will be 33 in May, and Farrior is 102.

Why are people surprised by this? There was no way in hell the Steelers were letting one of their best and youngest players walk. Polamalu is getting old, he struggles staying healthy for a whole season. Harrison, Smith, and a bunch of those other guys are dinosaurs too.

Multiple sources like Schefter and LaCanfora from NFLN have been tweeting and reporting for over a week that their sources all indicated he would in fact be franchised unless they got a deal done. They apparently have no intention of letting him walk. And his comments indicate he seems inclined to remain a Steeler whether whether via tag or extension.

The Steelers have officially franchised LB LaMarr Woodley, as expected. Will announce the move later today.

The 26-year-old defenders salary -- as a tagged linebacker -- is expected to exceed $10 million.
