The Patriots are opening free agency with an aggressive approach. Among their plans are to meet with tight end Kyle Brady today at Gillette Stadium.

The 6-foot-6, 280-pound Brady is one of the best blocking tight ends available in free agency. The meeting with Brady is likely tied to the idea that Daniel Graham -- who is scheduled to meet with the Broncos today -- won't be back with New England.

Denver, Oakland, Atlanta and the New York Giants are other teams who appear to be active in the tight end market.

    #75 Jersey

Reiss: Kyle Brady Visits. Shmessy: Thanks for Everything Daniel!

Graham is good as gone. Thank you, Daniel, you were a fabulous blocker and quiet leader for the team. The Pats will miss him, but the TE position is solid and if they can bring in a good blocker like K. Brady on the cheap and get a nice comp pick for Graham, everyone wins.

That's too bad but you can't help being happy for Graham if he goes to the Broncos. He gets his big payday and gets to go home. Good for him.

Brilliant business move. Do you know how many #12 T. Brady shirts they can sell now?

Ditto. Though I can only hope some other team cuts him the big check with the donkeys sliding down near Raider territory for most despised team.

It sounds like a very good move, hopefully it is true.

and now my user tag is pretty much obsolete, unless Kyle Brady likes the number 82...

This strikes me as a win win for both teams. Obviously Graham gets a HUGE payday and we get an excellent blocking TE for a lot less money.

No question that Graham is a better all around TE than Brady but value wise I think we come out ahead - though I am willing to predict now that for the amount teams are planning on paying for him they will try to get him more involved in offensive production as well.

I read somewhere (Reiss' blog?) that BB believes Kyle Brady as a blocker is like having a third OT on the field. He'd be a nice addition as a blocking TE...

Yes, BB has stated that about Brady, though the same can be said for Grahambo. As Joe noted Daniel is the better all around TE, but there is no critical need to replace Grahambo with better balance, though from a tendency standpoint, Brady could be a give away.

BOR, you must not have been paying attention. Brady has caught 37 passes the last 3 years (though his numbers are declining). :D

Seriously though, I think Brady would be a great, low-cost addition.

    No Jersey Selected

I'd rather sign a younger blocking TE, like Cinci's Reggie Kelly and Tony Stewart (provided they don't have a criminal record, of course), GB's David Martin and Donald Lee, or Visanthe Shiancoe. I definitely wouldn't break the bank for Kyle Brady.

Brady would be a great addition, provided the price was low enough. He's not nearly as good a receiver as Graham, so he is a lot less versatile and would limit our options a bit, but he is a fantastic blocker. Its a downgrade, for sure, but a decent compromise, I think.

I agree with every word. Getting a guy like Kyle Brady to come in - freeing up p-time for Watson and Dave Thomas - it ends up being a real positive, even with Graham being the superior player of those two. Great value, great management of personnel, long-term vision.

Let's hope he signs. We may be a little premature thinking he will.

I don't think he will end up Denver. His chances there will probably end

    today.

How can you judge Brady's receiving skills? He was working with Leftwich and Garrard...I mean, come on...he will get a major upgrade with the other Brady, don't you think?

    #12 Jersey

Brady would seem to be a good fit here with his high effort manner - plus he's 'clean,' as Obama might say. Graham, meanwhile, would look much better to me in Black and Silver than wearing Bronco blue.
