It's about time and way overdue that the Obama administration give answers and get restrictions placed upon them. Our military and intelligence in general needs to be reigned in by Congress ... way overdue IMO. Hopefully while they're at it they can get some answers regarding a coherent and sensible plan of our governments involvement in arming rebels in the Middle East & Africa. Congress needs more oversight on the military ... time to reign it all in.

To me, drone strikes are as significant to national security interests as putting troops on the ground. The results are the same:increased animosity toward the US and it's citizens abroad, destroyed structures, death and mutilation of innocent civilians, and increased ability to recruit terrorists and jihadists, to name just a few consequences. The big difference is that there is a deeper psychological effect on the targeted civilian population caused by the constant uneasiness, fear and terror from strikes that come by complete surprise. This is state-sponsored terrorism, IMO.

Thanks to Congressman Kucinich for bringing this up and shame on everyone else who refuses to address this situation as some sort of natural progression in military tactics and technology that will supposedly make us safer. It's bad enough we can drop bombs from the air and keep nuclear-armed submarines patrolling the oceans for some imagined purpose. It's bad enough we can rain holy hell on an undeveloped, unarmed 19th-century culture and invade and occupy them indefinitely and become outraged as they fight back. Now we send in weaponized, flying robots to slam into houses that may or may not have "terrorists" inside without considering who else may be inside.

We look like techno-geek cowards when this is our not-so-secret policy of violating international laws regarding political assassination and murder of innocent people (what the Pentagon would describe as "collateral damage").

It's tough.......we want accountability at every level while wanting the kind of security that only can be had when you do things 'you may not be proud of'

to me, the drones are no different than putting covert ops on the ground.....we do it because we can and we do it because we can get away with it.

covert ops needs a certain amount leeway in order to be effective against people who live without rules.

I am not going to criticize our president for this. transparency should have to wait. if something disastrous happens, then the executive branch will have to answer for it

In my opinion, this is the way it has to be and we have to be willing to accept the fact that someone may have to apologize in the end rather than continually ask for permission in order to effective in the big picture.

in light of the fact that operations are ongoing, providing information now could undermine plans that are already underway

When some of our enemies figure out to create decent drones it is going to add a whole new dimension to terrorism.

That will happen sooner, rather than later.. we reap what we sow.
