I think the CFL would be pissed. Several years ago (1994-95- the CFL expanded into several US cities, some even in the south, and the NFL was pissed.

Baltimore, Shreveport, Memphis, Birmingham, Las Vegas, San Antonio.

Learn something new every day, didn`t know that...

Anyway, let's have some lighthearted fun with European team names.

How about:

The Paris Petites
The Hamburg Buns
Or
The Frankfurt Buns
The Madrid Matadors (That one is a gimmee)
The Rome Bishops (We already have a Cardinals in the NFL)
The Vienna Waltzes
The Warsaw GhettoBusters (That might be a little over the top)

Your turn...............

The Geneva Conventions

The Stockholm Syndromes

The Genoa Salamis

The Seville Barbers

The Dresden Dolls

The Toulouse Latrecs

The Buda-Pests

The Florence Nightingales

The Crete Ins

The New York Jets

The Hungary Snack-nackers

The Transylvania Trannys

The Roman Fifers

The Warsaw Wrecks

The Turkish Baths

The Danish Pastries

The Grecian Formulas

The Greenland Nyets

Well, after living here in Europe for over 20 years (and Pats fan for over 40) I know that (American) football is not the most popular. This is not just because of other alternatives like soccer which kids play because its so easy to play (no equipment needed and any ball wil do) there is also the culture too. Kids don't get exposed to the sport which leads to little interest at later ages. The knowlege of the sport is very low and most people are confused when trying to grasp the sport at the begining.
The NFL needs to start sponsering youth programs over here. Get the kids involved, the ones who will play or pay to watch the game in the near future. I am a peewee coach and find it very difficult to fill my roster. We need to get the schools involved so people actually know about the sport.
