Listening to Kirwan on the Sirius NFL channel just now and there was a Patriots fan who asked him what he thought of who the Pats would sign at a very slim OLB depth.

Burress was not mentioned because at this point its probably more smoke than fire but Kirwan expects the Pats to at least talk to McGinest and says the Pats may have an interest in Roderick Green of the 49ers who he says is available but I thought he was under contract with the Niners,Isn't he?.

Also, wasn't Green arrested for Marijuana and some other charges earlier this year?

Don't know much about Roderick other than him being in trouble and have never seen him play...Anyone?

There's some info in his wiki, including this gem.

    McGinest? Really? Wow.

3 out of 50 questions? - That may be as close to a challenged individual as it can get.

Yeah,He said McGinest is one he expected the Pats to take interest in seeing that there are few veteran OLBs available left at a realistic cap number for the team.

Of course there can always be a trade for a solid veteran OLB to hope for.

since the patriots have lost vrabel, izzo, ,harrison, seau there is a little leadership role void, willie mcginest is the godfather ,according to brady, so bringing him in for that, also to be a stuational pass rusher with the young guys doing the dirty work actaully does make some sense

3 out of 50. That is insane and hard to do. Just answering randomly should get you on average 12.5 right.

Funny since Kirwin was on the Julius Peppers bandwagon as late as the Friday before the draft. He said on WEEI the Friday morning before the draft that he thought the Peppers trade would happen on draft day. Maybe he was just backing up his fellow NFL.com Vic Carruci on his story or something.

I don't know how he thought the Pats would figure out how to fit Peppers under the cap and now state the Pats can only afford washed up players that no one rerally wants or never was' that no one really wants.

I can't see Roderick Green being anything more than depth and special teams. Here is what Scout Inc has to say about the guy (they give him a grade of 49 which is a below average back up/special teams specialist):

Roderick Green Stats, News, Photos - San Francisco 49ers - ESPN

I don't know how he is much of an upgrade of anyone the Pats have on their roster.

I think you get two points just for writing your name correctly... but in all fairness to him, Roderick is a tough name to spell.

This guy doesn't thrill me, but I'm curious, does the Wonderlic factor in things like dyslexia or other learning or test taking disabilities? I have a hard time believing anyone could score that low without something else getting in his way...

Just write up a list of guys who are 260lbs and are known as sack artists. Cross em off as you go.

Would Roderick Green be classified a "sack artist". What kind of sack artist has 12 sacks in 5 seasons. Is a sack artist in the same way a person who can draw that Zippy the Turtle from ad in the back of magazines call themselves regular artists?

He's a 3rd down LB who specializes in rushing the QB. i'm not saying he's the best at it, just that it's what he's known for. Just like someone who has a drawing show up in a magazine can be called an artist.
