Kiper 2-round draft: WR Justin Hunter and—

Y'all are underrating Ty Mathieu and how he would fit well into our schemes defensively and on special teams.

No one is denying that he's talented, but there are two key problems:

(1) He lacks height. No amount of coaching can change that fact.
(2) He managed to get himself kicked off of an SEC team, which seldom if ever happens. That demonstrates some sort of judgment issue.

A backup nickel back just isn't worth a #2 for us, even if he is a top special teamer.

Justin Hunter had a 7.20 3-cone at his pro day - that is slower than every WR at the combine. It's very unlikely he'll be a Patriot.

Don't get the Honey Badger love. The Pats just signed their slot corner for four years. Drafting Mathieu would either mean one of the two is starting outside or one of the two is the dime back, and neither makes much sense.

I think he is viewed as safety by many NFL GM's. He could fit as a Troy Polamalu type safety who could free lance and make plays.

My guess is we use one of our 7th round picks on him, OR if really impressed, we draft him in the 3rd round. I disagree with Hunter in the 1st, though I'm a big fan and would love that, but I can't see the Pats picking in the 1st round, they surely will try to acquire more picks since they only have5 overall.
