Re: Keyshawn Johnson released.

...We already have one prima dona WR two of them could not co-exist.

I'm afraid I have to agree with that. Takes some getting used to tho...the BB Pats with a Prima Donna...

Re: Keyshawn Johnson released.

I find this curious. Why release him now?
It's a sign of respect to release a player early rather than late. it gives him time to find a new club.

Re: Keyshawn Johnson released.

I wouldn't call this great cap management:

The move came a month after the Panthers paid Johnson a $3 million roster bonus, and three days after they selected another former Southern California receiver in the second round of the draft.

Re: Keyshawn Johnson released.

If Keyshawn still has it, and he'd like to play on the cheap, he'd be an excellent addition ..... particularly as an underneath receiver to complement Welker and as a big RZ target.

In his career Keyshawn has never had fewer than 815 yards receiving in a season.

Exactly...i guess they just wanted to make sure they got Jarrett. Although by doing this it makes the panthers look like they will try and take care of veterans, so could possibly help future FA signings

Yes I agree space, it's just that you'd think that they'd at least wait till some of mini camps are over to see how their WR corps are jelling. This still seems real early.

Re: Keyshawn Johnson released.

No more WRs. Unless Bill is thinking he can get all of them to play both sides of the ball. And there is no way a wide receiver would do that would they?

He is to the 40 to the 30 to the 20 Randy Moss returns the interception 80 yards to pay dirt......

I didn't think people would seriously think this thread was actually about signing Keyshawn Johnson.

Re: Keyshawn Johnson released.

Sign him! He's better than Gaffney and Caldwell and Washington.

Imagine the red zone weapons with Moss, Stallworth, Keyshawn, Watson and Vrabel <lol>

R U on drugs??????

Re: Keyshawn Johnson released.

While we at it let's trade for Marvin Harrison, Chad Johnson, Steve Smith, Andre Johnson, Torry Holt, and Anquan Boldin!

Not any more but back in the day, yeah I was known to partake.

Let me guess, you didn't like my inclusion of Vrabel as a RZ target

He said partake:rofl:

Re: Keyshawn Johnson released.

I wonder if it had anything to do with this gem on Draft Day (talking about the importance of a backup QB): "When Jake went down, we were left with basically nothing."

Re: Keyshawn Johnson released.

Serves him right

I didn't like the way he was annointing Jarrett as the third wide reciever above Colbert, when he's never stepped on the field.

I'm sure carolina has plans for him, but you don't go on record with an espn audiance and dis your current teammates like that. and colbert wasn't the only one keshawn put down. He didn't seem like a good teammate to me.

When espn had corey chavious, and jenson on in past years, they were always asked about thier team as well, but they never said anything bad about others, even tony gonzales was asked on the nfl network where his team needed to improve and he said it wasn't his place to talk about replacing current teammates.

But I thought mengini would try to sign this guy for some reason,
probably to try to keep pace with BB.

How many ***..ing receivers do you want on this team - 20?

I would settle for a ***..ing LB now ILB OR OLB don't matter at this point- not the crap we have right now to back up our 4 starters, they simply don't appear to me to be good enough.

Re: Keyshawn Johnson released.

And he tried to act like he was happy about them drafting Jarrett. "I'M EXCITED!" He said over and over through a grimace of a chessy fake grin. I saw through that and laughed about it. Now I feel bad.

Off topic but your name Dragda makes me think of soccer player Didier Drogba

I don't really care how many the Pats sign and start out with just so long as they end up with the best X they decide to keep. If it takes 20 signed WR's to reach that level then I don't see what's the big deal? It's not like I was suggesting they sign Key to an outrageous contract chalk fiull of guaranteed coin.

If a LB the caliber of Keyshawn becomes available then I'm sure they'll consider him. But right now such a beast doesn't exist, unless you know differently.

Re: Keyshawn Johnson released.

I did not see that coming. He was an analyst at the draft he was asked if he thought the Panthers needed anymore receivers and he said that he didn't think so. Then they draft Jarrett (people make the comparison between him and Johnson) and suddenly he's cut. Tough break Keyshawn.

Oh man. Remember they interviewed the coach of the Raiders Kiffin (formerly of USC) and Keyshawn exchanged cheesy compliments with him about their former school and how Keyshawn would help Jarrett if Kiffin would help Mike Williams. So lovy duvy.
