It is truly the Democrat's way, taking responsibility for your actions and facing consequences... he did it pure and simple.
You're joking right? People gave statements that he was drinking in a bar and he blames it on a drug that was in the news at the time.
edit: from the article linked by blue collar
"It will also include ÔÇťa medical component,ÔÇŁ requiring Kennedy attend a certain number of Alcoholics Anonymous meetings each month and check in at certain intervals with a court-appointed official."
Prescription drugs but he is attending an AA not an NA class.
DUI is driving under the influence. Kennedy would be a fool not to plead guilty. You can take NyQuil and be charged with DUI.
Kennedy maintains that he wasn't drunk, which may or may not be true.
Who gives a sh!t.
The people that keep electing him deserve him. :rocker: "thats right"
Like I said before...Patches needs to come out of the closet and be the person that he really is...America would embrace him for being himself and telling Da Da to shove it. Patches has been abusing drugs and alchohol for living the sham life his father has authorized.
Make way for Patches at the Park Street Noon Meeting!
Its amazing how quick the Republicans here dismissed that fact. He's a Kennedy, you know he's got great lawyers. Compare his situation to Mo Vaughn's. Both of them had the opportunity to get away with breaking the law, only one chose to.
I'm not a Republican but I'll comment anyways. The State usually offers plea bargains to save time and money...their weapon is additional information and witnesses.
The defendant usually takes a plea deal when there are worse charges pending and there is a better than 50/50 chance they will be found guilty.
Celebrities and public officials usually take a plea for either the above reason or to keep their name out of the press...to save the party...which is okay..it's part of the system.
The original fact that he shut off his lights to avoid detection has been lost in all of this. Why did he shut off his lights if he was still driving? Would a sleep-driver do that? he shut them off to hide..pure and simple.
He took the plea and did a noble thing for himself, his family, and his party. Nothing wrong with that at all, but let's not make more out of it than it is. Hopefully he reigns in his problems...public life would go a long way to help him attain that.
Being noble and responsible is an often overlooked and minimized aspect of societal expectations, he did what he did and took responsibility... he has bad booze/drug genetics, hopefully he can straighten himself out and avoid further relapse.
To A Liberal Your A Republican If You Don't Agree With Them
