Federal government hit with 489,000 damage claims after hurricane

    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/22571349/

    3,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 $

I thought they already got their "$" when FEMA gave them all that money to buy food and rent.

What banana brains. Someone tell them that the government is not responsible for the damage mother nature causes. What a banana brained country we've got. The next time it rains and my roof leaks, I'm suing.

Can I sue the government also for the increase in gas prices because of that as well? :D

your best response yet.... stick with that theme...

but just look at the righties go ape-shyt when the economy is even vaguely threatened by a lawsuit ... it's a negotiating tactic by people who suffered horribly, so why take it so literally?.... but, anyhow, did you guys even read the story before showing your "f*ck them" true nature?

while the government isn't responsible for mother nature, they are responsible for a levy system it was warned about 25 years ago... even the army corps of engineers has accepted blame for their poor design...

It appears that these days you can sue for pretty much anything, including $54 million versus a dry cleaners, for losing your pants. :violent:

You can sue me for posting on this board. Or you can sue the government for the sun going down at night. You can sue for anything - doesn't mean you'll win.

This silly thing will just keep the courts a little more busy until it gets tossed out. Levys schmevies. The government has the police to protect me but if someone breaks into my house, or kills my wife, they aren't responsible to me individually. That's silly.

Of course not. It's silly. The government bears no responsibility to the individual people - if they did there's dozens of things we could sue the government for at all times.

nor does it bat an eye when it enables the transfer of wealth from the middle 80% to the elite 3%... and don't pretend it's not...

That's just silly. As we've drifted off topic did you know that the percentage of the income tax that the top 1% pays has gone up under Bush ? Yes, their wealth has risen too but the top 1% now pays a whopping 39% of the total income tax.

a claim like that? yeah, just about... or it's certainly dictation from a book or magazine when i can't find it to provide, via the Web...

and always do i do so when asked for ... especially with a "please" ...

i mean, you can leave it at that if you like... merely a statement based on recollection... but you're convincing no one in that form, based on your pro-capitalism, everything-is-fine, blame-socialism-for-everything post history...

    Here's another :

    http://www.ntu.org/main/page.php?PageID=6

Top 1% paid 37.42% in 2000, Clinton's last year. It went down initially with Bush but by 2005 was over 39% and my previous link shows it stayed there.

    My work is done.
