It looks to me like Kasich is just passing costs on to Local Governments who will most probably have to raise taxes and/or layoff employees to make ends meet.

Glad I don't live in Ohio.

BTW: Not one Democrat voted for the budget.

Forgot to add he also signed these bills into law yesterday.

Alcohol and guns. Always a good mix.

Nothing better than taking the family to a State Park and seeing a few of these

    Layoffs all around. Woohoo.

Glad to finally see a politician do what he says he will do and be responsible for a change. The people of Ohio will benefit from this. He, Walker, Christie and a couple of others are trying finally to keep their states solvent, hopefully in 2012 we can get a new President who will challenge the unsustainable status quo.

Strangely enough, the people of Ohio don't seem to feel the same way.

His approval rating is currently somewhere around 35%.

Well they certainly have the option of voting Kasich out & voting a lib in with a lib reps and continuing on the road to financial collapse.

Hopefully he didn't lay off any badly-needed swimming pool inspectors:

Imagine the damage to the people of Ohio if top notch public servants aren't around to protect and take care of them?

Deflection at its finest. What about drilling for oil/gas in State parks? Passing all of the tax burden onto local governments?

It was nice of him to sign the bill that allows people to carry concealed weapons in bars. What possibly could go wrong with that?

It is not deflection. I was addressing the idea that layoffs of state workers are the end of the world.

BF...this has nothing to do with Ohio's budget, or new laws....

here is the flip-side of your attempt:

If you are carrying a weapon legally you can't drink. That's the law. So whether you're in a bar or not is irrevelent. You can't drink if you're carrying.

From GOP controlled Ohio to GOP controlled Texas..........................

The full article can be found here: Texas lawmakers fail to solve big budget problems, punt tough decisions down the road - The Washington Post

Have to give Rick Perry some credit. He knows how to use acounting tricks to balance a budget. Kind of like the way he used federal stimulus funds to balance the 2009 budget Texas balanced budget with stimulus money from Washington - Jan. 23, 2011

GOP voters: If Perry enters the Presidential race will you vote for him?

It has everything to do with the "necessity" of bloated bureaucracies.

Can a private contractors be fired? Can their contracts not be renewed?

Preemptive attack on Perry by the WP dnc paper. Well if you look at unemployment in Texas versus the disaster Obama is presiding over voting for Perry is a no brainer.

    That is a good question.

Indiana leased a toll road (90 years I believe) for $3.85 billion to private investors. Does Indiana have any control if the investors go belly up? All I know is that tolls have gone from $14 for truckers in 2006 to $32.50 this year.

    http://www.landlinemag.com/todays_news/Daily/2011/Jun11/062711/062711-01.shtml

Texas is also thinking about leasing toll roads roads to investors for a one time cash grab.

Why do you attack the source and not the facts? That budget is all smoke and mirrors. Since it looks like Perry is going to run for President he doesn't care what kind of mess he leaves behind.

What do you think of Perry including federal stimulus money to balance the budget in 2009?

And if you're looking at unemployment rates to decide who has a greatly run government, MA is better than Texas. As is New York. As is Maryland.

One of the reasons Texas has lower unemployment may be due to the fact that, outside of California, they've received far more stimulus money than any other state.

Can a person who checks pools for dead people be fired?

wanna end a 'bloated bureaucracy'? end the wars. end the military industrial complex. Don't b!tch about a single employee checking a pool in Fall river.
