Alot of people are posting their impression of players after watching the game a second time. Last night I watched the replay of the Pats game on the NFL Network. I'll admit up front that I didn't watch 100% of the plays, but I watched most of them.

I was watching Nick Kaczur, play after play. Nobody got close to Brady. Don't know if the folks he was playing against stink, or if he's improved his level of play, but to the naked eye, he looked really good.

    Anybody else notice?

I noticed that, too. I couldn't wait to re-watch the game. It took almost an entire 24-hour period to load in NFL Rewind (the NFL.com service where you can see every broadcast on your PC in HD. BTW...it's awesome). I'm hoping that next year the OL goes Vollmer (LT) Mankins (LG) Koppen (C) Light (RG) Kaczur (RT), with maybe an upgrade at Center. That line would be solid as a rock. They need to really work on their smashmouth running technique, though.

Is there a cost for the NFL Rewind? Sounds really neat.

Contrary to popular belief, Kaczur is a good RT.....

This is why i wish people would stop whining about wanting Vollmer to start.

It was $40.00 when I got it. It went up to $50.00, but I would've gotten my money's worth at that price. I don't know if this is copacetic, but here's the link:

I'm just a customer. I'm going to end up watching at least 5 games per week. I watched Indy/Jax yesterday, which was good. I'm going to check out Atl/Mia tonight to see what the future Patriot opponents look like. I also checked out the ending to Cincinnati and Denver, just so I could bust on a friend from Kentucky who has seasons tickets to his "Bingles".

    This was WAY Off-Topic. Sorry...

It wouldn't surprise me to see Vollmer take over at LT before the end of this season. Light is more suited for the right side at this point in his career.

I've rewatched the first half, I wouldn't quite say nobody got close, there were a couple of plays where both Light and Kaczur both had trouble w/ their man on the edge. But overall, they were better than they looked to the naked eye on Monday nite. I think part of the reason there appeared to be pressure on Brady in the first half is that they were going for longer developing routes than they did in the 2nd half, and you really only can keep Schoebel away from the QB for so long.

Answer: No, I didn't notice him.

That is, after a day, I realized that I saw every starting lineman beat at least once, but I didn't notice that with Kaczur. (Although I didn't rewatch that toss play to the right where Maroney got thoroughly swarmed.) In a pass-based offense, it is a good thing to be an anonymous lineman.

I like Kaczur, but I think Vollmer is better. I think he is better than either Light or Kaczur and he is still learning.

Why is it whining to want the better player to start?

At this point in time Vollmer is not better than Light or Kaczur, which is why he's #3. He's in development and Dante has always worked his #3 OT in for game reps early in the season. In time I think he will win one of the two T slots, but he's learning the job now and finding out how fast the other side plays when winning the game matters. The Buffalo game had a late season feel to it with the intensity Buffalo brought to that game, I like that it knocked a lot of rust off the guys - fast. I expect a similar intensity Sunday against NY.

    A better combo might be:
Vollmer - LT, Light - LG, Koppen* - C, Mankins - RG, Kaczur - RT.

    * - I too agree that we need a big upgrade at Center; big, as in Damian Woody/Mike Compton big. I was very disappointed that Al Johnson was released after the Burgess trade, but I suppose that you can't make the club from the tub; just ask (We'll Never Have) Paris Lenon.

I feel that "Todd" Light would be better-suited at LG because he could then play next to SeaBass and give him pointers, watch his back, etc. Besides, Mankins is prob. bigger & stronger than Light, anyway.

Yeah, I saw Kaczur get beat badly a few times, so I wouldn't say he did an excellent job, but he was definitely adequate. In a game like that one, where everyone's playing below their level and shaking off the rust, I'll take it.

I would like to see Light as a tightend, snork, snork. He used to play it in college and can catch. How would you like to be a safety and see him headed your way?
