All we need to do is try him on the defensive side of the ball and we have a "Troy Brown" clone..not really but you get the gist!

You have to wonder what would have happened to Edelman if he'd been at a bigger college program with a more pro-style offense. At 5'11" 195 with incredible quickness and athleticism, he would almost surely have been converted to a WR/RB/KR/Something much earlier.

    3.92 shuttle, 6.67 cone, 36.5" vertical, 10"03" broad jump, 1.52 10-yd split.

That's amazing. Amazing as in quicker than any WR prospect in years. As in quicker than DeSean Jackson. As in, at the Kent State pro day, the scouts asked Edelman to run the shuttle a second time because they couldn't believe that number was real, but it was. Now toss in the competitive drive and leadership that made him a QB to start with.

I love that kind of 7th round pick. Swing for the fences, why not?

Yeah, the sixth and seventh rounds seem to be a good place for the Pats to find underestimated talent. Thanks for the data; I had no idea! I think we'll be hearing a lot about this guy.

Also ran a 4.52- 40 which is bit on the slower for a prototypical WR, but if the plan is to run the same kind of routes that Welker does, he has that prerequisite speed, agility, skills and football smarts to really compete for a roster spot.

A very likeable player and someone I hope makes this team!

Yeah. Either he's catching passes here, or he'll be doing it in KC. . . .

Yep, he doesn't have dazzling straight-ahead speed, which contributed to his low draft status. The best physical comparison I can dredge up is Deion Branch:

    5'09" 191 3.76 6.71 36.0" 9'09" 4.52/2.56/1.51
    vs.
    5'10" 195 3.92 6.67 36.5" 10"03" 4.47/2.58/1.52

Don't let Patriots.com do your accounting, then. ;)

At the Combine, Edelman measured 5'10.3".
