This seems to be everyone's favourite new song. Why haven't they noticed the Pat's aren't dancing to it?

Re: Joyner:pats Will Need To Air it Out in Indy

Given the injury to Marlin Jackson that is forcing 'Tiny Tim' Jennings in to the starting lineup for the Colts, airing it out may not be that bad of an idea. Besides the fact that opposing QB's are completing 80% of their passes thrown his way, he's also getting flagged often - including four penalties in the game against the Packers two weeks ago. In addition, the player behind Jennings for nickel or dime subs, Keiwan Ratliff, was just signed to the team yesterday. The key will be keeping the pressure off Cassel and giving him enough time to make the throws.

He has been on the team before. He is one of those who is on and off the squad.

And yes Jennings is small, very Jason David like but more physical. Aren't the Pats corners small as well?

It all depends on pass rush.

Yeah, I caught that part too. Good point. Thing is, Cassel has a very solid foundation to build on, and that starts with his four years of learning the system, and the confidence he has that he can play at this level.

With those two things to support him, he should get better every game. The effort is there, and the results are there as well, for those who are willing to see them :) Things like, not having to change the playbook.... That is a HUGE advantage right there.

What's worse, it turns out the NE Tackles don't suck as much as the witch hunters screams would indicate:
Who'd have thunk it? Scar rules and fanboys drool!

The Colts could be without three of their four top CBs in this game. Freeney and Mathis (well he did well in the Ravens game) have not been effective this year because there is no rush up the middle. The Colts are 28th in sacks and 22nd in opposing QB rating. They are a team that can be passed on especially if they are going with Tim Jennings and Nick Graham (I guess he would be next on the depth chart if Hayden and Hughes are out) as their starting CBs. Even if Hayden plays, he has to be less than 100% considering he only practiced on Wednesday and has missed nearly a month of games.

I think the Pats will win the game by airing out the ball. I think the Pats have very favorable matchups with Moss and Welker vs. the Colts' DBs. I might even do a lot of max protection when throwing since I think Moss can shake the double team considering the competition.

Without Sammy Morris they do not have a running game they can rely on. MC has been maddening in taking sacks but he is being conservative and not making too many bad throws. And winning. His decision-making took a big step forward last week. He needs to take another step this week. The Colts have a great rush and Freeny et al will get their sacks, but Cassel will hit some plays too. He will have to hit some big ones to win because Manning, Wayne, Harrison, Addai will make plays. Should be a good one.

The Colts are 28th in sacks with 10. I know sacks aren't the only measurement of a pass rush, but they may be one of lesser pass rush teams the Pats have met this year. Without any pressure up the middle, the DEs have been neutralized.

Also, if Jordan returns and is close to 100%, he can be almost as effective as Morris.

I hope you are right, but Cassel is more vulnerable in the pocket than any other QB in the NFL because he has poor pocket awareness and is still very deliberate in his reads. So I believe the Colts will get to Cassel (over/under for sacks is 4). Jordan has not shown he can be as effective as Morris (though I'd love to see it). He can be an effective red zone bull, but will not carry the load down the field. To counter these disadvantages, Cassel has to hit some plays downfield.

    No Jersey Selected

It now appears that the offense has no choice but to air it out, due again to our brokedown mountain of RBs.
