Always a strange reflection of our society when the Comedy News is the only sane voice.

Raw Story Stewart’s ’sh*tty daydream’ recalls attacks on anti-war protesters

The screen rippled and harps strummed, indicative of a flashback.

Fox News pundit Sean Hannity, speaking on April 4, 2007: “You notice, how angry the left is today? I mean, the vitriol that comes outta them?”

“I think they get their marching orders from the left-wing blogosphere,” added Republican strategist Kellyanne Conway.

Another Fox News host said on March 24, 2008: “They make such total fools of themselves and embarrass themselves and make the anti-war movement look more anti-American by the day.”

Finally, Fox editorialist Bill O’Reilly himself, from December 8, 2005: “The far left in this country, the zealots — I mean, these are zealots — are Nazis. And this is exactly what the Nazis did. They disrupted rallies, they came in to shout people down. They intimidated, they smeared, they did all of this.”

He's right. Some of the people hired guns by the parties, but I think many, from both periods in question are legitimate. I think it's stupid to jump on anyone who is honestly and civilly questioning policy. Our system was setup for debate, not steamrolling whenever one party gets in power. Open and honest debate would be best, but neither side likes it when they're in power.

So you and Stewart are admitting that what they were saying about the anti-war protesters was in fact correct, but they should be saying it about the healthcare protesters, also?

    Agreed.

Its 100% Cool with me if you protest, its about as american as it gets. But when you resort to smearing, and shouting down...you become irrelivant. Stewart is pointing out the utter hypocrisy of the conservatives during the Bush years, and especially the commentary by the FOX anchors at the time.

Best part of the video is when they quote Glenn Beck...then BOOOOO when told to shut the TV off when he is on.

    amazing!

If you really have questions and concerns, get your facts RIGHT and ask a question, have a dialog...thats what its all about.

doing the hokey pokey and turning yourself around is also what it is all about, but thats a different thread.

    Love it....

    NO.

"You really don't understand do you?" - The Mack

Somehow when anti-war protesters were shouting down people, the protesters were NAZIS. But now those who are shouting down people, are shouting down NAZIS????

Duh, I get that. So either they are both wrong in what they are doing or they are both right. Which is it?

I'm trying to fing the liberal who is calling the birrthers, deathers, tea-baggers etc. NAZIS?

I'd love for you to point that out.

I HAVE heard commentators call them dumb, and call the disruptions of debate unamerican. I agree with that. to use the terms Nazis, and communists etc is silly.

No, we're merely asking that the right-wing live up to its own standards. If righties think that protest is wrong, then they should not do it and should act more polite and civilized. On the other hand, if you're for these kinds of protests, then join us in condemning the hypocrisy of O'Reilly and the others.

Maybe a bit over-board but they are clearly anti-nazi signs, not pro.

Are they or are they not "carrying swastikas?"

And "a bit over-board," while an absurd understatement, is exactly what the majority of these "protestors" are like. I mean, they're protesting health care reform, and specifically a public option, something that is still to the right of virtually EVERY other industrialized nation, and they think we are slipping into totalitarianism. There is zero perspective here, and the rage they show is just ridiculous. I have no problem with someone opposing the health care bill for actual reasons that they can articulate. This reaction is so far beyond the pale it's scary, what happens when Obama does something that will really affect their daily lives? Bush started a war for no reason, spent more than any other president in history, deregulated wall street, massively increased police and surveillance powers, suspended Habeas Corpus and dumped billions in excess into no bid contracts for companies who don't know what they are doing. And Obama is a "Nazi?"

The right is just a product of conditioning and stupidity.

Go easy on the mushrooms and you should pull out halfway decently. About the best you could expect at this point.

    Same difference.

The nazi party was also for nationalized healthcare.

See I guess I am comparing you to a nazi, without calling you one.
