Nah. We're getting younger and faster. He'd make us older and slower.

I really wanted Lynch along side Rodney prior to his signing with Denver. Now however, no thanks. I'm fine with Meriweather, Tank and Sanders for this season. The Jets or KC can have him.

Hey, but if you say it enough, you'll luck into something like:

"LaMont Jordan was just released from the Raiders. I know we have a bunch of running backs and he hasn't done much in the past few years but I really think he could bolster our offense."

    No Jersey Selected

No for me, as well. I am very happy with the safety situation as is.

What he was thinking 4 years ago to sign with the Broncos is beyond me. Because he didn't want to sign with the Pats he can go and play for some NFL weakling.

I'll admit it, he is a good player. There is something about him that I don't like though. I feel like he has been the face of the Broncos the past few years and I hate the Broncos. I know it is nitpicky on my part, but I can't help it if that's why I don't like the guy. I hate seeing him on TV always complaining to the refs.

4 years ago. yes. Now? I don't think so. Lynch should consider retiring.

he played well and he's our idea of the safety-linebacker hybrid at this point: slower, intelligent, knocks the crap out of people.

    but i think we're set.

i agree that we're set at safety and i also agree that 4 years ago i think this would have been a no brainer.

the one part that would intrigue me is that the pats have "numbers depth" at corner. Maybe the coaching staff sees this and could find a way to slide Merriweather over to corner to utilize his skills there IF the corners they have don't pan out. that's IF! Like i said, they've got a ton of them at CB right now so we need to see what's there. But?

that's just a thought to consider.

If lynch ever were to come here, i'd see this as a very late training camp move a-la seau.

The whole point of the 2008 draft was to get younger and faster on D. How would this help?

Why go after Lynch when we can get Lott out of his private equity firm?

With Bob Sanders on PUP, I could see Lynch going to the Colts; Lynch is very close to Dungy. The other place I could see Lynch going is to Kansas City. The Chiefs could use all the help they can get as well as a veteran presence. Lynch is very close to Herm Edwards; he is the godfather to a son of Edwards.

Big question is whether Lynch will accept a reduced role, or if some team will pencil him in as a starter. The reason he left Tampa Bay was not over money; the Bucs wanted to keep him in the rotation but start a younger player due to his age and neck injuries. Denver promised him a chance to start, so Lynch became a Bronco.

Not sure if Lynch would come to NE knowing he'd be a part time player ...... at best. But this would be a typical Patriot addition if ever there was one.

We have Rodney and Tank. I do like lynch but he just won't fit. If we are going to go after an older DB then (god forgive me) I'd rather see Ty Law at CB or FS.

As a part time player he could be an asset because he is a leader and brings a presence and attitude to the D, just like Rodney. Unlike Rodney though he now has something to prove now because someone thinks he can no longer play. I know he will be 37 in Sept but I like him. His intensity could be contagious and along with Rodney they could split time as QB's of the D. In terms of his loss of speed, I don't buy it because Lynch was always pretty ordinary in that dept always using his instincts and smarts to get jump.

It would take some convincing on BB's part for Lynch to accept a part-time role but he would be useful eventhough we do want to get young on D, safety is one spot we could use more depth.
