Wow! You know I was thinking that there is no way the Pats can franchise Cassel even to trade him (now it wouldn't be fair for the rest of the league if the Pats got another first round pick), but since reading Clayton's insightful analysis my world has been turned upside down.
I never even thought of the argument that the Pats must franchise Cassel. I mean I heard the argument that they should franchise Cassel, but I have always been skeptical about whether that is a real good argument to franchise him. Leave it to Clayton to come up with an interesting angle that no one has thought of and say the Pats must franchise Cassel. It is so simple, yet so brilliant. I am not surprised that a brilliant mind like John Clayton was the first to come up with it.
