Joe Wilson, the latest demagogue of the right, and the brilliant statesman (according to Anne Coulter) authored a bill to allow an immigrant to become legal.. this one because he was a christian, it is truly a funny world...

Selective rage, or a tad Orwellian, "All immigrants are created equal, but some are more equal than others."

I'd like to see how Wilson is connected to this guy.

But then again, who cares. Joe Wilson is a do-nothing hack.

You do know that know that the government of Gambia, which btw is 90% Sunni, puts Christians in prison just for being Christians. I wonder what treatment Sainey Fatty would recieve being a converted Muslim who turned his back on the Koran.

Once again the end justifies the means.. sigh!!! How many Gambians are awaiting deportation or have been deported??, this is just another self serving bill, it is what it is, there is no difference.

It's bad for a government to imprison someoned for their faith. Gambia, run by a military dictatorship, is one of the world's worsh sh!tholes -period. No one should be expected to return there. There should be a complete amnesty for anyone lucky enough to escape there. Average age is just under 19. Life expectancy is 55. Risk of contracting a major disease is "very high".

There are unjust "prisons" and circumstances all over the world. Many of these conditions are worse than staying alive. What's Ole Joe's policy for them? Why does this guy deserve a waiver on the process over anyone else?

The difference here is that Sainey Fatty is a Christian and his cause is being taken up solely for that reason. Fatty has served on staff with HIS International (based in Columbia, SC) since 2003.

HIS, a non-denominational Christian organization whose purpose is to serve international students and their families. Together they become a community--with strong bonds of friendship and concern that continue long after the students leave the campus.

How are HIS staff members and volunteers involved with international scholars & students? They assist with their practical needs in adjusting to American culture:

Getting a Drivers License
Locating Housing
Shopping for Food and Clothes
Learning English
Finding Necessary Medical Care

Also, students have the option of joining in a variety of HIS-sponsored activities such as:
Free Lunches on Wednesdays & Thursdays
English Classes
Bible Studies Discussion Groups
Retreats
Travel Opportunities
Shopping Trips

Probably not, but do not get on a podium and pontificate pious platitudes about illegal immigration, and call people liars in public.. review the standards for political asylum.. and if they need revising, revise them.

It is a tough line to draw, are emigrating Cubans entitled to compassion?? If you follow the rhetoric here they certainly are, as Castro is a very bad man.

The decision to file this bill seems to have been solely made on Fatty's christian beliefs.. if a non christian was in the same situation, would have been interesting to see the response of Joe...

Ole Joe Wilson is the "Joe the Plumber" of 2009 for the fascist lying scumbags like Sara Palin, the "Family Values Christian" groups, and and their moronic neo-con followers who talk out of both sides of their arses. Christians are under attack crap (when so-called "Christians" control 4/5 of the world's wealth) is getting old.

Joe Wilson is a hypocrit and everyone knows it. Go back to sleep, Joe.

Mr Fatty is a Muslim who converted to Christanity, worse yet he became a Christian minister, in an Islamic country like Gambia he faces a death sentence.

Good for Mr Wilson saving the life of someone who faces a death sentence if sent to his native country.

Pretty pathetic if that is the best ya got.
How is BO auntie doing still getting public assistanence?

BTW there is documentation to establish Mr Fatty is here illegally.

Anyone in here know where Gambia is?

Only a racist POS would want to save someone from that country.

Wilson:
Whatever his faults may be (we all have them) he had the freedom and the courage to stand up and call this President Of The USA "a liar" right to his face, there are millions of Americans who agree with him.

Somebody is pissed the Pats got clocked.

Tell you what, wis: you turn every thing you said about Palin, Wilson, religious folk, and everybody else you just trashed ... turn it around 180 degrees and you'll be a LOT closer to the truth. People naturally believe in God. You cain't stop it. Not even the "Peoples Republic of Massachusetts" is going to change how people feel in their hearts. Give it up, lest you become a knasher of your own teeth.

Now, if you want "hypocrites" ..... you need look no further than KKK Robert Byrd and all the limousine liberals in Congress: go to Washington penniless and voila!!! in a few years they're BILLIONAIRES (Kerry, Kennedy, Pelosi, Reid, Dodd, Frank, etc. etc, etc.)

Have GREAT day!!

Americans have seen the real (ugly) face of liberalism in this "health care" fiasco, and it is REAL UGLY.

Nobody wants Cuban or Canadian style health care. Where would we go for real treatments ..... Mexico??????

Only the total hypocrite liberals in Congress (and White House, now) want to give the rest of us something that they EXEMPT themselves from!!!!! These liberal phonies ALL get to keep THEIR first class health PRIVATE care, but for the rest of us "mere voters" ..... well, we get to PAY for it all but not to get the same level of service. :steamed: To hell with that.

How many times does this happen??

This is just more situational ethics in order to deify this great orator of the house... if tommorrow Barney Frank stood up in the House and proposed an amendment for amnesty for all Gambians here illegally, there would be a subsequent shyt storm... but because some rightie does it, it is a warm and fuzzy thing. He is our hero, lets all give him a big hug..

For some this Joe Wilson is some type of defining moment for the Republicans, all the while it is rude behavior.. at closer examination it is hypocritical behavior.. which is the hallmark of the right.

This whole thing is, once again, about the Christian Right espousing select causes, but ignoring the big picture.. save Fatty because he is working amongst the pagan college students, but close our borders to other women and children, some of whom are just as deserving, who come to this country for similar things...

BTW in Gambia he does not face a death sentence, the information gathered for this is from a blog called the Unpainted Theologian.. you also might want to review the CIA factbook on Gambia, before you make any more outlandish claims..

Classic "I can't argue this coherently, sooooo...hey! Look over there!"

I wasn't trashing religious people. I was trashing "Christians" who seem to care more about those who share their faith than everyone else. Your so-called rebuttal is empty and weak. Diversion to the straw man never holds water.

I don't want to stop "religiosity". I just don't want it to effect me or the affairs of state. Why would I want to stop something so comical and ripe for redicule?
