This was really the first time I had a chance to hear him on the stump...

I watched the rebuttal on FOX as to get my conservative talking points in line with th erest of the party, and was truly shocked at the response by the panel.

BRIT HUME: “The speech read a lot better than it sounded. This was not Bobby Jindal’s greatest oratorical moment.”

NINA EASTON: “The delivery was not exactly terrific.”

CHARLES KRAUTHAMMER: “Jindal didn’t have a chance. He follows Obama, who in making speeches, is in a league of his own. He’s in a Reagan-esque league. … [Jindal] tried the best he could.”

JUAN WILLIAMS: “It came off as amateurish, and even the tempo in which he spoke was sing-songy. He was telling stories that seemed very simplistic and almost childish.”

and those are people being "Kind"....

I guess this is a case for style or substance. Because what Obama said, was said pretty, but I did not agree with hardly any of it. Jindal came off nervous, but I think his substance was better, but the delivery was choppy.

A Jindal/Palin ticket would be comedic GOLD!

    I agree.

This was my first time to really sit and listen to what he had to say. He is touted as the next big thing in the Republican party...and he 'sucked' to put it mildly. There was really no substance to teh rebuttal, and I especially didn't like the lie about the magnetic train from disneyland to vegas. Its a straight up lie. And even if that was in the plan...Whats so bad about building infrastructure, and connecting cities?

All and all, it felt like "story-time" during a rainy recess in 2nd grade...

He needs to get better, or hope his grandstanding will keep him elected as governor.

It was just really ODD to me....

The guy's a better speaker than that speech. Unfortunately this was his first impression, and the media won't make it easy on him at all. He dropped the ball.

Palin is a joke...but her first speech was quite impressive. Maybe this is good for republicans, he will certainly have to impress the next time he does such a thing...or...Bye-bye-Bobby!

So, you mean that FOX was fair and balanced in its coverage? They said it like it was? Hmmm...

The replies from this panel almost gave me whiplash....

It wasn't so much fair and balanced as it was brutal honesty. I think you should be looking at how the quality of the speech forced a biased network's panel to be honest. And if you serioulsy believe the "Fair and Balanced" schtick...I have a ton of stuff on e-bay for sale including a bridge in Brooklyn, NY.

No. They were being very kind.

There was NO method of putting any lipstick on that pig of a rebuttal.

He literally SASHAYED into the room.

Then he gave a speech in full Mister Rogers voice using a Jim Bakker smile.

The entire package came off as ghoulish.

    Now to the substance:

He actually tried to make the point that too much Federal Government interference in Katrina resue efforts is what the problem was. As if more Federal Government INACTION would have been beneficial! Unbelievable.......and rather delusional. My only guess is that the Governor had a VERY enjoyable time at Mardi Gras yesterday.

    A couple of points.

*Fox was being honest. OMFG you mean that happens on that channel sometimes?

*Raise your hand if you've ever remembered a rebuttal to a POTUS speech. Beuller, Beuller...I didn't think so.

*It's 4 years from 2012 (and the world is going to end then anyway), so why is everyone focussing on that years election right now? Either A) you are an Obamaniac who's worried already, or B) you are a Birth Certificate obsessed individual who is hoping the Messiah fails so your party can benefit. RELAX PEOPLE!

*So Jindal can't give a speech without coming across as an Indian Mr Rogers (2 cents to flex). Anyone think that really matters on February 25, 2009? Cuz I don't.

*Quick, someone name me the last 5 people to give rebuttals. To steal a line from the jewish guy in Coming to America...Ahghaa! :D

*Aside from the above, I hope Obama is the greatest president of alltime. I really do. His being so would mean we're headed in the right direction, and are in good shape. Color me skeptical though, cuz to me, he's the new people same as the old people. I do hope I'm wrong though.

I couldn't believe he brought up the red tape he had to cut through during the way the Bush administration handled the Katrina responce. Amazing!

The old BS line: "Government isn't the answer...oh, and I work for the governemnet. So re-electme."

RAISED: someone said they heard form another person that his cousin told her that he collapsed at 31 flavors last night!

Jim Webb, as a sentor for about 1 month gave the rebuttal to Bush's State of the union in 2006. I recall being quite impressed with what he had to say.

You ain't never met no Dr. Martin Luther King.....

I remember Jim Webb too cuz he was/is supposed to be president someday. Anyone heard from him since? My point exactly. Also, that's one person, not 5. ;)

There's no need for that racist remark. Note one of the rules of this board:

No attacks that stereotype all people of a race, ethnicity, religion, gender, national origin, sexual orientation, or who are serving in the US military.
