By the way, Jimmy Carter made a similar call, trying a daring rescue mission... that failed. These are all facts. Here is my opinion: For all the dummies saying it's a no-brainer, no it's not. That's pretty much what made Bush let him go in Tora Bora -- the prospect of failure (along with the prospect of success, knowing that it takes the steam out of your wars if you actually win.)
