The GOP cut and runner is right now taking the position of Jack Murtha on redeployment. More republicants will surely follow, and follow the lead of the majority of the US electorate who want out yesterday. He is using an open letter to the WH taking the position that we need to reduce the US footprint in Iraq. Wow, what a leader! He sees what a joke his party has become clinging to a fairy tale, and now he's changing course.

Is this a RINO, or is the writing on the wall...the beginning of the end?

Petraeus is now suggesting the surge will need 10 years. I suppose I can wait that long, I wonder if our armed forces can.

who needs troops? we can privatize the whole thing... send our loyal young Bushies over there to fight it out and "make a difference" while reaping 4x the money in their own pockets than troops make ... and heck, they don't even haveta adhere to Geneva or Hague ... they're private! hooray!

Lord knows the average American kid coming out of high school has no desire to join the military and fight the neocons' war of aggression against the wrong enemy...

what gives you that idea? As they find there are no jobs left for them (all the "min wage" jobs went to illegals), they'll have no choice but to grab a gun and head straight to Ramadi and Samarra.

i love when the right plays the absolute final card when defending Bush and the failed Bush doctrine: ... referencing the mirage that is the current U.S. unemployment rate...

Say what you want about Bush - and there's plenty bad to say - but the economy is doing just fine for the to and the bottom and those in between.

really? has your rent/mortgage doubled in 10 years? mine has... gas? electric? tripled... insurance? forget it... now tell me, has your salary kept up? saving much money are you? ... if so, you're extremely fortunate, and the profound exception to the norm...

the value of the US dollar is shrinking rapidly, we produce nothing but guns, munitions and porn... tell us all what is so "strong" about the US economy these days...

perhaps you subscribe to the Dennis Miller theory of national debt... "What? Do we actually owe somebody this money? F&ck 'em... Don't pay it."

All I see is plenty of jobs available for people with a good education. Lower class into lower middle class, maybe not but as the country becomes more and more technological that's not going to change. So I guess it depends on who you are.

Back to the actual topic of the thread, you are correct (however sarcastically) that although Bush was the leader of this thing, the Democrats largely voted for it - that doesn't bail Bush out but the Democrats didn't do their job and are not innocent in this thing. Anyone who thinks they are is a partisan fool.

i'll not argue with you on that, overall... but i'll judge them individually, not with a blanket... and 23 senators DID their job... as did 133 congressmen...

regardless... if Fog (just for example ) tells you a lie, and you believe it, who's more at fault?... you may be irresponsible, but not as culpable...

again i ask, if you're willing to offer: is your salary keeping up with the cost of living the past 10 years? 15? be honest...

I don't know where your liveing.Yea the economy is great if you want to say "you want fries with that",or "welcome to Best Buy".The average wage hasn't gone up in app.seven years. For quit a few people 8-10 dollars an hour is what they been makeing since Clinton was in office. Just look at the average want add outside of Boston. o make When I got out of high schol in 1972 I got a job makeing eight dollars an hour. To get the same real buying power today I would have to make$45-50 per hour. So if your makeing nine bucks an hour I doubt your doing real well.

Yeah when Clinton, Gore, Kerry Pelosi, the CIA, the UN, England, Russia etc. said Sadam had WMD's and needed to be taken out then Bush should have not believed them. At least the left wing segment of the Patsfans board saw through it all along. We should have the new congress and upcoming administration check with them before making any decissions in the future. After all they use "Think Progress" to get all their facts from. No agnda's there.

I was listening to Skynyrd while I was cleaining my shotgun the other day, and "Gimme Three Steps" came on. The lyrics and the story reminded me of the US "policy" in Iraq for some strange reason. Give it a listen and tell me it's not a metaphor for what has gone on since day one there. These things just pop into my warped brain every now and then...especially when I'm cleaning my guns.

More or less I guess. I've never actually calculated it. I get marginal 2-3% raises each year but I don't drive a lot so gas prices haven't hit me, I haven't moved since 2000 so house prices haven't hit me - other than that inflation has been largely low. I haven't noticed a large increase or decrease in my quality of life financially.

I imagine you aren't doing well if you're making $8 an hour, maybe those people should look at why that's what they're making.

Regarding your $8 an hour in 1972 - first, you would have to make about $30 an hour not $45-$50 based on inflation since then. Second, more importantly, lower paying jobs aren't going to keep up with inflation. I don't know what to do about people who choose not to get an education and get a good job but there's plenty of high paying jobs in the engineering, health care, financial arenas. And from what I've herad there's a shortage of teachers in many areas (not high paying there but clearly a living wage).
