LOL Tangini cut him from his second to last long term deal that turned out to be a one year deal about ten minutes after they replaced Herm, and given neither of them has tremendous job security pending a playoff season...

I guess a leopard never changes it's spots. Just last week he said he wanted to play for a winner. If he pulls this crap again even Bill will finally delete his number from the rolodex.

    Greed. Pure greed.

If the Jets want him over two or more years with guaranteed money, more fool them.

I'm guessing this thread will inspire a bunch of anti-Law posts while if the first word was replaced by "Patriots" it'd somehow be the opposite ala Zack Thomas.

Do the Jets have room to sign him? I still think he ends up here.

Well, you can want a player at 1 year 4-5 million and not want him at 3 years 20 million. In fact that's roughly how the Patriots built their team.

No offense but I pray to god we don't want him at 1 year 4-5 million. Have you seen him lately? I think he ate Herm Edwards career :D At 1-1.4 maybe I take a shot, but if he's out there for more, let the Jets have him so they can put him on Welker in the slot and we can expose the fact that he changes directions like a dragster.

I actually haven't seen him much, though the few times I was priveledged to watch Dolphins KC or KC as my national game, he was still on the "strong safety" side of things as I recall (hard to be sure, our local station broadcasts 'widescreen' HD signals sometimes.

I would only welcome Ty Law back if he took a pay cut to come back to New England. I really can't see him doing that and I think he's out of the Pats price range. I'd love to see the Jets overpay for him though. He does look a whole lot heavier than when he was first with the Pats.

I want no part of Law. He is a walking pass interference who just is not good any more.

is it just me or is Manidiot going after exactly the same people the pats are. Even mock drafts have them going after the same...wether Gholston or a top Cornerback...

    it is actually annoying.....

Now that you admitted you haven't really seen him... He made close to $12M the last 2 years in KC, we had offered him $11M for the same time period. Corners don't come cheap, look what Randall Gay got. Ty says he's healthy and he wants to play for 3 or 4 more years. If he wants to be compensated as a starting corner for that entire time there is no way Bill brings him back. If he wants corner money this year and safety money for a couple of more years I think Bill would welcome him. But if he's dicking around with his show me the money BS touring again, Bill will move on. Waited 3 months on him last time and it probably cost us some other moves that might have helped in 2006.

I'm not hopeful seeing as he was saying how pissed he claiming he was this season hearing all the talk about tainted championships. So interviewing with the little pissants that started all this crap isn't a promising sign that the important things ever change with Ty.

I wonder if he's still with the Poston's...they never leave a nickle on the table, even if it's a funny money nickle.

What a surprise. The Pats are rumored to be interested and now the Jets are interested. Shocker there.

I would welcome back Law at a value deal. I still think his future is at FS, but I think in the right system he has two or three years left in him.

Experience aside ... is Ty Law a better player right now than James Sanders? Ty Law was a great player but if he's not as quick or doesn't tackle as well as Sanders I say we save the coin and let our guy (Sanders) cantinue to get better.

Listen your one of the few Jets fans i like to read stuff from.

But im telling you if you guys draft Darren McFadden you might as well kiss your ass goodbye. The guy is a malcontent.

Will he be great? Yes. BUt not good enough to destroy a teams chemistry to please one player. The guys ego is monstrous.

Im talking Godzilla King Kong and Cloverfield Monster all at a buffet monstrous.

If his ego is as big as you say it is then I hope we take a pass. I only know of him from what I saw on college saturdays but I have heard random incidents such as the bar room fight which resulted in a dislocated toe and rotoworld said he had a "could not care less attitude" at the combine when execs asked him about his history off the field. As long as he does not have a d#uche bag of the year ego I want him just for the sheer fact that the Jets have not had a playmaker on offense since Santana Moss and before that they are far and few between

Doesn't sound like NY is thrilled about this development:

I always liked Ty myself. I wouldn't mind him back in NE.

Would a 2-year deal for Law be that bad of a thing? I want Hobbs, Webster, and L. Sanders on the bench.

Took me a minute to figure out that was Lewis Sanders...

I don't hate on Hobbs as much as others, he's a decent #2, and if the Pats change their corner style to be more physical, this could really help Ellis.

Ideally at S next year, I'd like Sanders at SS for coverage, Rodney for run stuffing. Rodney looks like age (and no HGH) will be his biggest hurdle and I like him in big nickel type stuff and for run downs. I'd give Merriweather the start at FS.

And it looks like a rookie will be competing for #1 CB.

** The best post I read in the draft forum was trading down with Minny and somehow picking up Antoine Winfield. I don't see them ever doing this, but wow, I'd piss my pants in delight.

The teams that have had him since we let him go have all been less than thrilled with him overall, he is heavier by a lot than when he played with us, and he wants way more than he's worth at this stage of his career. Even Schefter was laughing about this "possible deal" yesterday - the guy is an old safety, an area we're fairly deep in, he's not a corner anymore healthy or not, as I said, he changes directions like a dragster. My guess is the FO is pushing up his value to eat up even more of the Jets Salary Cap, if he comes back to us for reasonable money, I'm sure there's a reason, but my gut tells me he's nowhere near playing for the Pats, and this is all a way to get the Jets to pay more for him. I guess time will tell. But if you think he's worth more than some of the players we're paying a LOT less than $5m per year, I think you're kidding yourself.

Please explain to me why you want Hobbs on the bench? He is our best CB on the roster right now....At this point in their careers I would prefer Hobbs to Law.

Hobbs had a good rookie year and a better sophmore year (considering the cast), he did struggle a little bit this year but considering some of the injuries that we have heard he had I would fully expect him to make a huge leap this year when healthy.

I really would like to get Ty back this year but not to start in place of Hobbs. IMO Ty would have a pretty defined role with this team. He would be a CB until Asante's replacement is ready and than he would be a big part of the sub packages and maybe even a little safety.
