oooooo oh no he di'in't!!

Re: Brian Schottenheimer has decided to part ways with the team

With Bill Callahan to Cowboys & Brian Schottenheimer leaving, next anticipated #Jets move is hiring former Dolphins coach Tony Sparano as OC

Twitter

And Christmas in January has been extended for Patriots fans...

Re: Brian Schottenheimer has decided to part ways with the team

Bummer. Maybe they will get someone in there who can do something with Sanchez. (although see my other post about head-scratching coaching recycles) Aren't Jets fans hoping he goes to Miami?

Edit - Didn't see Deus's post above before posting this. Looks like the Pats win again!

Trading one idiot for another. Great job Jets.

Re: Brian Schottenheimer has decided to part ways with the team

Well, Sporano was a key factor in turning Chad Henne into the superstar he is today so we might see that unlimited ceiling that Sanchez has being reached next year.

So the Jets are trading one mediocre OC for another and still stuck with a mediocre QB. Things are looking up for the Jets. Well, in fairness, Sporano has never been an OC so he may be good or ten times worse than Schotty. Granted Sporano was responsible for calling the plays in Dallas in 2006 and was so "good" that Jason Garrett got the OC job in 2007.

I wonder how much he got for a buy out...

Re: Brian Schottenheimer has decided to part ways with the team

These Tony Sparano rumors were before Hue Jackson was fired.

Rex wanted Hue Jackson in 2009 when he took the Jets HC job, but Oakland denied it.

Jackson is most likely the #1 target for their new OC.

edit: guess I'm wrong

Nope. Tony fist pumping Sparno is your OC.

This. He damn sure didn't leave without a big chunk of his new 3 year deal in his back pocket. THey had to gas him as the fall guy for senior management.
This is just so good because it buys at least another 1-2 years "to see what Cantchez can do with a real coordinator". The problem for the Jets is the problem aint the OC.
So great!

Jackson didn't get to Oakland until 2010. He was still with the Ravens for Ryan's first year as the Jets HC.

It sounds like Sparano to New York is a done deal.

As soon as I posted that, of course, some more reasonable Jets fans elect to chime in.

Did you watch any Dolphin games the past few years? Sparano is more conservative than Herm, Paul Hackett and Rich Kotite in their primes. This move is an absolute disaster. I am sick to my stomach.

Exxxxxxcellent.

Indeed. Next year is the "He needs one more season to see if he can mesh with the new O.C. now that he's got one year with him under his belt" year!

Re: Brian Schottenheimer has decided to part ways with the team

Well the Cowboys had a good offense when Sparano was calling plays. He never called plays in Miami.

whatever

Re: Brian Schottenheimer has decided to part ways with the team

They still have Li'l Marky, Wrecks, LaClassian, Cromartie, Holmes, Woody Johnson, Tannen-bum, etc., etc. No worries, a 44th consecutive year of futility is assured. :rocker:

Yup, whatever! Whatever the hell were Wrecks and Tannen-bum thinking in hiring Sparano for OC when he didn't even call plays in Miami?

2006 Romo > Sanchez
2006 Barber > Greene
2006 Owens > Jets entire WR corps
2006 Glenn > Jets entire WR corps
2006 Whitten > Keller
2006 Jones => Greene

I wonder if players matter....

LaWhinean is expected to retire this Year....he already said in a subtle way he wants out of NY and doesn't expect any interest elsewhere.....Holmes isn't exactly thrilled to be there either.
