It's easy, and only takes a few moments.Having a pregame speech is weird enough, having it be from an outsider is weirder, and then bringing a career ending, life threatening injury into the room is the weirdest. What's he trying to put in the players' subconscious?
I can picture Byrd saying something like "this game gives and takes away. Cherish and respect the game...be humble. But tell everyone you want to kick their ass. Call the opponent an ahole in the papers. Always make sure to threaten another players career.". I feel its a strange combo for that Jets team.

Byrd must have been proud of Bart Scott.
My guess is he's pitching the comeback story. He busted his neck in 1992 and I don't think he was given much of a chance to walk again.
Nice story, I can see what Rex is trying to do here, but his team is filled with Baffoons that just won't get it.
I tweeted this to Peter King, Michael Lombardi, Adam Schefter, Mike Florio, Ross Tucker, and Jason LaCanfora: Bart Scott threatens to end Welkers career, then Jets get pep talk from Dennis Byrd. Logic?
I am curious what they will respond.
