Re: Credible Twitter source: Pats to shop Welker

BB always talks about "team".

Welker will want a very pricey deal. He deserves it.

The team has Edelman & Hernandez to fill in.

The Welker $$ can go towards other needs on the " team".

The math makes sense.

Yes, we all love WW. But, it may not be wise to give big $ to a 30 year old slot WR when we have 2 younger, cheaper, talented options.

Serenity now, serenity now...there is logic to this.

Re: Credible Twitter source: Pats to shop Welker

If he's found a way to use twitter in jail, he must be a great source.

Let's see.....credible.....source...

Don't see "some anonymous guy on twitter."

Don't think it has legs but....

Wes will be 30 in May. He is in the last year of his deal. We have no idea what his contract demands are or what the Pats have offered, what they think his $$ value is or what they are thinking of offering him.

We've seen this movie before, gents and it has a different ending each time....

I actually wouldn't mind this at all. I really think Edelman can rise up to being the #1 slot receiver. It would open up a roster spot to acquire a tall, fast WR as well.

Hernandez cannot fill in for Welker. They play different roles. Did you watch the Patriots play this year?

Re: Credible Twitter source: Pats to shop Welker

How is he a creditable source if his tweets are "protected"....

Exactly. If a new WR is brought in, one has to go. It makes sense to get rid of the 30 year old who led the league in drops and isn't a great fit for the scheme anymore.

I like to agree but Edelman had a problem catching passes this year. If he had a year like 2009, I'd feel a little better about trading Wes.

With that said, I don't want Wes going anywhere. Hope this tweet is BS.

The offense is a sort to medium passing game.

Why is Wes not a fit for that?

Re: Credible Twitter source: Pats to shop Welker

Not happening anytime soon, remember no player trading for the draft pick this season until a new CBA is in place.

Re: Credible Twitter source: Pats to shop Welker

Could the Patriots decide to trade Welker rather than extend his contract?

Yes, that is a distinct possibility.

Could the Patriots decide to extend Welker and keep him beyond 2011?

Yes, that is a distinct possibility.

Is Incarcerated Bob a credible source?

No, that is highly unlikely.

Re: Credible Twitter source: Pats to shop Welker

I doubt the source is credible. When was the last time BB tipped his hand on anything.

Re: Credible Twitter source: Pats to shop Welker

What has Edelman doned?Seriously. The guy sucks as a slot wr.If Welker is shopped around, they better get a capable wr.

Re: Credible Twitter source: Pats to shop Welker

Knowing BB I will not be surprised if this actually happens. IT is kind of sad that this may actually set a different attitude with the rookies who would be watching up close what happens to their leadership.

As it is we have void in the locker room which is hard to fill after the stalwarts retired/traded/let go. :(

In my opinion, which doesn't matter anyway, is that cold and business like will elicit similar response from the team towards management as they will also start seeing this as a business

</rant end>

I really don't believe this. And this is over what, Wes talking about feet before the game? If that is the reason, BB will have compounded a bad move, benching Welker, with idiocy, dealing him away because he's now somehow considered a malcontent?!

Re: Credible Twitter source: Pats to shop Welker

Edelman has shown us ability; he has not shown us durability. I don't know that they would be willing give up a sure thing for a maybe.

Welker is good, but I can't see him asking for money the pats won't give him. This is not a parallel to the last star WR we had with an expiring contract.

Re: Credible Twitter source: Pats to shop Welker

Edelman is an unproven guy. This team has one of those guys in Tate already.

Re: Credible Twitter source: Pats to shop Welker

This team needs an upgrade at wr but on the outside.Branch is getting up there in age and i am not sold on Tate.Price is an unknown.
