    Disable Jersey

If it is a CBS issue, which is most likely, CBS should be able to resolve it immediately and kill the speculation.

Wicked Pissah that now another team is the target of unbridled media amplified, Internet stoked speculation, eh?

Jeremy Green: Dennis Green Pumped in Fake Noise at Metrodome [mergedx2]

From the PFT Rumor Mill page, Green's son, Jeremy, admitted during a chat on ESPN that Dennis Green had artifical crowd noise played during Vikings games when the opponent had the ball. Now, other than making Dennis Green look kinda bad, it shows that this might be something done on the order of the coaching staff, and not Polian.

Why would I say that? As PFT points out, Dungy, Tom Moore, and controversial "go for the knees" d-line coach John Teerlnick all coached under Green in the 90's when this was apparently going on.

I think it is an interetsing admission by Jeremy Green, and I wonder if he will address it further on his daily podcast. He can be pretty annoying, but he does watch a lot of tape and has good guests every week.

    Jeremy Green on Crowdgate

    From his chat on ESPN:

    http://proxy.espn.go.com/chat/chatESPN?event_id=17947

Wow! Considering his dad was the head coach of the Vikes in the 90s, I guess he just threw his father under the bus. At least, he does add more weight to the fact that people at least did it in the past.

I don't think there's any question but that people did it. As others have noted that on other feeds you don't hear it, it sounds like it probably is something with CBS. It's interesting that CBS hasn't weighed in on it.

    Re: Jeremy Green on Crowdgate

Umm, have you ever been to a concert where the soundmix wasn't quite right? I have been to concerts where the PA system dissipated so much that all I heard was the actual amp speaker. Depending on where you were standing, all you could hear was the base, and some vocal. Move 20 feet, and suddenly there's very little bass, all guitar and all vocal. Go backwards 20 feet, and the PA reverberation kicks in, and you notice that the drummer was way freakin' louder than anything else being piped into the mix.

It all depends on where the recording device is located, and how it's angled. If the radio source is away from the PA speakers, it's not going to pick up what's coming out of them. If the CBS mike is near the stadium PA, it may indeed pick up the skipping.

    Re: Jeremy Green on Crowdgate

I would also like to hear one of these other feeds with clear sound. Ofcourse if we do not hear it soon then it is completely bogus in my mind because it is very easy to go back and put in a better crowd noise. The Colts have already proven that.

Another part of this makes me laugh. I do not rememebr which announcer said it but it his thought was basically about how great the fans in Indie are beceause they are so quiet when the Colts offense is on the field and sooooo loud when the Pats offense was on the field. He was also impressed with how loud they could be and that they sustained it for pretty much the entire game. I wish I taped the game because I would have liked to hear the comments again

    Re: Jeremy Green on Crowdgate

They may like the fact that people are still talking about the game and watching their coverage again and again. Or it could be they don't want to come out and say we screwed up.

If you didn't do anything wrong, but you talk about it, you give it more shelf life.

There are so many audio sources at an nfl game it's not funny. You are way oversimplifiying. They have upwards of 10 mics along the sidelines for crowd and field sound. They have the announcers. The ref. I may be missing some. Then you thrown in all the audio boards, effects machines, and replay machines that each have pathways to all of the audio feeds. You are talking about a lot of audio, not just two sources.

    Re: Jeremy Green on Crowdgate

The real question is whether you agree that it should be investigated and put to rest? Sure people are speculating but you sound like you're defending yourself. You're presenting some possibilities for people to consider but in the interest of fairness and the integrity of the league, you must agree that this needs to be vetted.:D

Stop argueing. You cheated, and that is that. So, now that you are a cheater, how does it feel to be a cheater. Cheater.

Just kidding dude. But, at least you can start to see how it has been for us. Just relax, the whole thing will work its way out.

    Re: Jeremy Green on Crowdgate

I know what you're talking about but how would your position from the speakers create a looping/skipping effect???

I read on many posts the Radio Broadcast didn't pick up on the skipping noise... I haven't heard the radio broadcast so i can't comment on that.

I found this on youtube.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QHQTcFQEMXo

The skipping effect abruptly stops and you could hear the difference.
If it was a CBS issue, why the commentators audio was not affected?

    Re: Jeremy Green on Crowdgate

Another problem with this is the stadium's speakers hang from the ceiling. There is no reason that CBS would put mics up there. The have plenty of easily reached spots to hang mic from in the upper deck if they wanted some in addition to all the mics at field level. Though there really isn't a reason to do it anyway.

I'm not defending myself, I'm defending my team against speculation that just grows with the mob mentality. I'm all for checking into it, because it truly seems like a CBS issue.

There are many audio pathways used during a broadcast, not all audio is running through the same path at the same time. That could easily explain why it didn't effect all audio.

    Dungy DID cheat

I'm not surprised that the audio artifact was the result of something that CBS did.

But lets not allow that to obscure the fact that Tony Dungy DID cheat by pumping in crowd noise.

From 1992 to 1995, Dungy was the defensive coordinator of the Minnesota Vikings.

As revealed today by Jeremy Green:

"The Vikings used to do it in the 90's" when his father was head coach.

The overwhelming artificial crowd noise gave Dungy's defenses a huge edge by deafening the opposing offense.

Polian's claim that accusations about the Colts pumping in noise are "ridiculous" doesn't even pass the laugh test.

    Re: Dungy DID cheat

    I wouldn't say it was Dungy's idea.
    I blame stadium/team management.
