He must have missed the second game they played against the Jets last year.

actually the offense struggled in the 2nd half of that game too.just sanchez sinked them so far behind that the jets didnt do anything.

Beating someone 2 out of 3 times certainly doesn't mean you have their number. The rex ryan defense certainly works better against brady then manning but in no way does rex have his number.

    Not exactly true.

    - Against the Jets in the second game last year, Brady was 28 for 41 (68.3% completion percentage) for 310 yards and a TD. That is far better than Brady did the next week against the Saints (21 for 36 for 237, no TDs, and 2 INTs) or three weeks later against Carolina (19 for 32 for 192 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT) or the week after that against Buffalo (11 for 23 for 115 yards, 1 TD, and 1 INT)
    - Although Brady didn't have a great game vs. the Ravens in 2007 (18 for 38 for 257 with 2 TDs and 1 INT), I think it had a lot to do with the weather. There was a hurricane type winds and Kyle Boller only managed to complete 15 for 23 for 210 yards, 2 TDs, and 1 INT.

Besides, it isn't a great sample size. He faced Ryan as a coordinator once and as a head coach three times. He is 2-2 vs. Ryan in those capacities. In one of the 4 games, Brady had a very good game (although he only threw for one TD, the offense scored 24 points with Maroney running in two goalline TDs) in one of those games. I don't know if you can really argue that Rex Ryan has Brady's number based on the sample size.

Quick! Name all the games where the offense didn't struggle in the second half last year. Can't think of any? Kinda funny if you can't since there was only two or three games where the Pats didn't struggle in the second half on offense last year.

I don't think you can blame the Pats' second half struggles in last year's games with the Jets on Brady not figuring out Rex Ryan's defense unless you think his inability to figure out Ryan's defense is the reason why the Pats offense struggled in the second half of almost all their games last year.

P.S. in the fourth quarter, the Pats ran the ball more than they passed to protect the lead. On drive ended in the fourth quarter because BJGE lost a yard on 3rd and 2 (not Brady's fault). A delay of game penalty killed their chance of converting a third down in the 3rd (that was a frequent problem last year against a lot of defenses).

We've been waiting for longer routes to develop since Moss has been our primary receiver. Our success the last few weeks has been through quick developing routes, mixing it up and getting rid of it. Nothing Ryan has seen applies now, so that's dumb of Jaws, he should know better.

After reading the EEI interview, it appears jaws agrees with me and disagrees with himself.

Right. Agreed totally. This is what makes our offense so deadly, quick intermediate routes. last time we needed the time for Moss to get downfield and make plays. I can see our offense really mixing some things up this time around. Belichick will find ways around the blitz.

Well.. I think if you were going to look for one guy who could design a defense to stop TFB, it would be BB. After that, who would you take? Rex Ryan has to be up on that list, plus he has the horses to do it.

The most common crime of national talking heads is that they will speak out of both sides of their mouths when they are talking to different audiences.

Many talking heads will always take the homer point of view when talking a local market. Jaws' slant talking to WEEI may because he wanted to pander to the local audience and focus on the good things about the Pats.

Also, a lot of these guys want to manufacturer trends to create interesting storylines. Since Jaws is calling the game, I think he may be trying to set up a storyline theme that he will be using while calling the game. Whether Brady succeeds or fails Monday night, he has his angle already set up. It will be Brady finally overcoming a defense that got him in the past or once again Rex Ryan is in Brady's head.

Jaws is calling the game. It is a unwritten rule that media people who are calling the game do not pick a winner so that they do not appear to have a bias. Chris Collinsworth won't pick a winner for the Sunday night games when he does the pick segment on "Inside the NFL". Boomer Easiason won't pick a winner for the Monday night games he does the radio broadcast for while on CBs' "NFL Today".

Rex Ryan had Randy Moss' number. Be it 24 or 31... Randy isn't here anymore. It remains to be seen if he has Tom Brady's number...or Deion Branch's or a healthy Wes Welker's or enough other numbers to cover 3 now fully integrated TE's who can block or catch not to mention a slippery midget scatback who can also multitask.

JAWS used to be great breaking down film weeknights on ESPN. Ever since he picked his Eagles to win that SB he's been a shell of that analyst. In order to elevate your profile as a mediot you have to become something you really aren't in many cases, the self promoting shmoozer who plays to his audience, and that is unfortunate.

He's reasonable, and right. 2007 Ravens were all over Brady, as are the Jets with Ryan. It's something to take very seriously. Ryan has a great defensive mind underneath all that blubber.

    No Jersey Selected

I would agree for most part, but what if the reporter is a specialized person - an ex-player in this case?

I tend to give more weight to the words of individuals who have participated in the subject matter in some way or the other.

That said, it never helps when the expert gives opposite opinions on the same subject in different venues. :)

Erring on the side of caution, Ryan is a very good defensive coach and we will have to fight for points. What he doesn't do is coach mistake-free football, so we need to capitalize on those.

Also, I think we've seen the value of the 2 TE set and I have no doubt we'll see it again Monday.

Well we'll see if Ryan have Brady's number this time around. That new Pats Offense excell in what Brady does best...the quick passes. We are also running it better than last year. We have BGE instead of Maroney...Woodhead > Faulk better runner just as good receiver. Our TE position is light years ahead of what it once was with Watson and Baker we now have Gronk and Hernandez. Minus i only run vertcal routes Randy Moss...we have i will go over the middle Deion Branch. The Jets and the rest of the league have their work cut out for them trying to figure out this Patroits Offense. No DEFENSE can take all Brady's weapons away pick your poison.
