Re: Jason Taylor situation heats up considerably: no workouts, minicamp, or training
I can understand where you're coming from. If he came here and split reps with either Seymour or Warren (preferably Seymour since he has a history of injuries) then it would be good. No way to do I offer a 2nd or a 3rd for someone who is in his 30's though. A 4th is the most I'd give in this situation. But then again, I'm not a part of the New England coaching staff/personnel.
I'd give a second day for a guy, but the most would be a 4th round draft pick. The reasons, as I stated before, are that we already have two very capable 3-4 DEs. If he came in as a situational guy (as in pass rush) to relieve Seymour than that's fine. I'd gladly give a 4th for him. But a 2nd and/or a 3rd for a guy in his 30's skipping mini-camp to "Dance With the Stars" is not worth it to me. Plus, you can tell he played all out on every play last season if you watch Dolphins games. He was one of the only guys in which the coaching staff credited with going all out on every play. Maybe it was because he was drawing a lot of double teams due to the year before or maybe it's because his skills are eroding. In this case, the latter is more likely.
Good point. However, I think it would be far-fetched to say that Jason completely quit on his team last year.
All this aside. Even if Parcells started shopping Taylor again, there is no way he sends him here. We are the guys he is trying to knock off. He would be doing his franchise a favor by sending him out of the division/conference.
Kontra -Don't you think that playing for a team that was loosing every game had a toll on his level of play? Throw out last season - He's a bad ass. We need as many bad ass defensive players as we can stock our team with - just think of what Bill could do with Jason. It would be nuts.
I'm for it. However, I understand he's old and all that crap - Teddys old, Jr.'s old, Vrabel's old, Rodney's old.......what's one more 32 year old on the defensive side?

it seems odd that a person named NFL defensive player of the year only 16 months ago, without suffering any known injury, is so quickly viewed by many as not worth even a second day draft pick.
He was in a lose-every-week situation that had everything to do with pathetic coaching, years of lousy personnel decisions, and flat-out ineptitude in offensive design and play-calling.
He loses a lot in my eyes for seemingly having football a lower priority than going all Hollywood though.
Belichick and Parcells would have about equal tolerance for that (as in zero).
