Could BB be looking to move up to snag South Florida DE Jason Pierre-Paul?

    From Mike Lombardi yesterday:

Every team I talk to wants to move down, and few want to move up. Green Bay, Philadelphia and New England might want to move up for the right player.

Most teams I talk with always ask me where I hear defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul is going to be drafted — which tells me they have interest in him. My guess is Jacksonville. He’s a hot guy right now.

    Now today Lombardi says:

I know that South Florida DE Jason Pierre-Paul is in high demand, and a team picking in the 20s might be moving up to get him.

With improving a pass rush being the #1 priority, I would applaud the move up to grab him.

I wouldn't move up for him, but if he's there, it's something to consider. I'd prefer somebody a little more...hmm...safe with our #1 pick though.

Not interested in this guy at all.

God help Jacksonville if they draft him.

I admit that I don't do a ton of reading on all the players available, but the scouting reports on him are pretty favorable.

Why are you not high on him, Jack?

I just think the bust potential on JPP is off the charts.

He's only played one season of college football at a high level. He's not very bulky for a 3-4 OLB, and would likely need a lot of time to develop both his frame and proper technique. IOW, he's not the guy to help us right away, which is what we desperately need.

    From PFW:

Pretty much sums up how a feel. Basically, he's a medium-to-long term project.

Good info. Based on this info, I would tend to favor Kindle if the opportunity presents itself to draft him.

    #75 Jersey

As I just posted on the JPP thread on Draft Forum.

I like them to be real football players. This guy had a whole half season of experience and his production fell off toward the end when offenses actually started to block him.

This guy is a huge boom or bust prospect. And for those impressed with his back flips an OT name Aaron Gibson use to do them before games. I think the Packers would like to have that pick back.

The Pats trading up for JPP is one of the few things that would ruin my draft night.

I really have a gut feel the Pats will trade up, but I am actually thinking they will have two firsts when everything is said and done.

I'll betcha the team he's talking about moving up to get him is the Eagles.

JPP is a perfect fit for the Patriots but I think he will be gone a lot earlier than a lot think.

    #24 Jersey

I would be shocked to see the Patriots select him.
Doesn't seem to be a fit at all.
    Extremely limited experience.
Not obvious that football is his life.
    Large risks.

The Patriots first round picks under the Belichick era have all been fairly low risk.

No, he really isn't a perfect fit. For anyone. The guy has zero explosion, no physical bulk (either for a 4-3 DE or 3-4 OLB), and he doesn't have exceptional strength for the position. On top of all that, just based on watching clips of him play, he is an extremely low effort player. If he misses the QB or gets blocked, he simply quits. He literally starts jogging around the field if he fails to hit the QB within a few seconds.

I hope the Pats stay away from this guy. I will be surprised if he develops into a successful NFL pass rusher.

    #24 Jersey

Box--If I'm not mistaken, Morgan is also represented by CAA sports and Tom Condon. That basically crosses him off the list, even in the small chance that we'd move up to get him.

Same goes for Jerry Hughes, who many of us would be happy with.

Damn that Condon and his CAA sports.
