I have had this feeling since yesterday morning and think this is the guy they are targeting if they move up. He does have a great motor and resume but I think getting Jaron Gilbert and having him play a year under Seymour would be a better way to go. They could still keep their #23 to pick up a great player and target Gilbert at #34 if they want a End early in the draft.

I feel the same way. Unless, of course, they're interested in trading Seymour for Peppers straight up, which would be possible with Jackson, who can start as a rookie, but much more difficult with Gilbert, who needs a couple years to develop. Of course, I'd prefer Seymour to each of those three; Jackson + Peppers, however, might get the nod over Seymour. Just a thought.

For the record, I'm a big Seymour fan, and I absolutely do not advocate trading him away . . . unless the return is too great to pass up.

BB doesn't want to be in the top 5. If they trade into 5-10 Jackson makes the most sense. In the 10-14 range, Jenkins is probably their target.

    #91 Jersey

The article is clear on that. THey are looking to get to #9 and that assumes that 4-8 have other needs besides DT. BB won't trade into the top 7. BTW- I would hate it if they traded to #9 and Jackson suddenly gets picked (another trade), I'd be just as happy to grab Jenkins. I'd also cheer a trade up to 10 or 11, again to grab Jenkins. I see an awful lot of mocks have Jenkins going to NO at #12, and that pick makes sense.

Good points and the trade I have always had in the back of my mind and in that case then Jackson would be my man. I am also a huge Seymour fan and hope that we keep him around for at least two more seasons.

The article isn't clear on that. He's checking availability and price but it doesn't mean he's looking to do the trade unnless there is a specific player there. I don't think he would have done the trade yesterday and just winged it.

    #12 Jersey

Would Pioli take #23 and #34 for #3? Maybe we could throw in another veteran like TE Watson or Thomas since Pioli traded away his superstar TE and we have Baker.

If you move into the top 10 you should expect the guy to be starting this year. Jackson would not be starting this year (ignoring any Seymour trade talks) so it would not make sense to take him that high.

With Jackson suddenly transformed from from a consensus #12-20 pick to a consensus top-10 and even top-5 target, does it really seem like a good bet that the 2nd-rated 3-4 DE will last to round 2?

Just imagine our D line next year with Jackson in the mix. They would be well rested all season long. Just unbelievable. And you'll have him for the next 5, too.

Wow it's a nice day out.

Crap, if he's as good as Seymour I trade with the Rams to get him.

    (I know, it's nuts.)

Good point.......too much going on today:D:D

I just do not think that he is 1st round material but if he is #2 DE for 3-4 teams and so many team now running a 3-4 defense he will go in the first now for sure.

If we want Gilbert, I certainly don't expect him to be there past 36.

so your suggesting the pats basically trade a first round pick, cassell, vrabel, and Watson for Tyson Jackson who would not make the team any better this year. No way

This team needs pass rushers.I bet they take a running back in the first round. They need to load up on pass rushers and get a safety.
