Holy crap! And we thought it was bad here.

"TOKYO (AP) -- Japan's economy contracted at the fastest pace in 35 years in the fourth quarter as a collapse in export demand drained life from the world's second-biggest economy.

Japan's gross domestic product, or the total value of the nation's goods and services, dropped at an annual pace of 12.7 percent in the October-December period, the government said Monday.

That's the steepest drop for Japan since the oil shock of 1974 and far outpaces declines of 3.8 percent in the U.S. and 1.2 percent in the euro zone. A survey of economists by Kyodo news agency had projected an 11.6 percent contraction.

Japan now faces ''the worst economic crisis in the postwar era,'' said Economy Minister Kaoru Yosano, according to Kyodo."

    Go figure:

Drunk? No, it was the medicine, says Shoichi Nakagawa - Times Online

BTW, nice work - - going 0-2 on the word "their" in the very same sentence (using two different spellings) is not an easy trick to pull off! Well played! :D

This is extremely bad news because we need Japan and China to save our asses.

Without a healthy Japan or China, the US recovery is F*CKED.

I'd prefer you send the paramedics. Just make sure they know how to spell, before you do, cuz they aren't welcome if they can't. :D

Your period isn't in the right place flex. So I have no idea what you're talking about.

I saw him last night on the news. He definetly had a high, high going. Of course it was that he had taken "to much medicine"

Yes and no...if the world is "in this together" we MAY be more apt to work with one another. If we were in this alone, we would sink to the bottom with 100% certainty as our currency would be crashing at this moment.

The fact that Japan survived their crisis in the 90's is pretty amazing considering the world was prospering at the time.

But Japan during their crisis had massive savings (#1 in the world), whereas we are the opposite

I guess my point is that it is better that we are in a deep world-wide crisis rather than being in the situation Japan was in during the 90's.

It is obvious now that US demand fed the economies of many nations (for good or bad). The one thing the world would LOVE to see right now are signs that the US economy is turning around. Regardless of how one may think the world views America, they would all love to see our economy healthy once again.

I've always been in touch with my feminine side. It's why I've always scored well with women. ;)
