According to PFT twitter the Redskins have let him go.
If God is a kind and loving God, Gaffney will be signed by the Patriots before the end of the day!
Geez, maybe we can somehow get Randy Moss away from the '9ers too.
He is better by Anthony Gonzalez.
The current WR lineup suggests that the quality the Patriots value most in a receiver most isn't size or speed or hands or route running -- it's having already proved they can work well with Tom Brady. Given that, welcome home, Jabar!
I'd take him back in a heartbeat!
Edelman/Rookie/Gonzalez (Backup slot WR battle)
Johnson/Rookie/everyone left (4th outside WR battle)
Works for me.
It seems like everyone wants him back. You listening, Bill?!?
Anyone have Randy Moss' cell phone number? We can call him and tell him that Bill's getting the band back together......
Josh is the one who lured him away from Tom for a few more pieces of silver than Bill was willing to part with at the time. Hope JAB and Bill don't both manage to make the same mistake twice.
Let's get him the only receivers on the roster better then him are Wes and Lloyd.
Let's go through the checklist
1. Is he old(ish)? check
2. Does he lack elite speed? check
3. Was he overpaid by another team and then cut? check
4. Does he know the offense? check
5. Will he sign for cheap money so he can win? check (probably)
conclusion: Sign the Beast
I like our chances!
If we sign Gaffney....can this offseason get any better?
I really hope this happens
Come on, Bill.....
Hope the Pats jump on this one. Lloyd - Welker - Gronk - Hernandez - Gaffney...... wow.
More competition is never a bad thing.. sign the beast!
I can see this happening............ TODAY.
Just do it Bill, you know you want to.
I see us keeping an extra WR or 2 this season and one or 2 less RB's than last season.
I think the better question is, will he sign with us? ****loads of veteran receivers in camp. He may have perceive better opportunities, and may get more money, elsewhere.
only if it's for the league minimum with 0 incentives and signing bonus
Yeah, but other than Welker and Lloyd, none of them are really roster locks. Not even Branch at this point.
Wasn't he released because of some off the field problems recently? I find it hard to believe they would get rid of their leading receiver purely because of the new young guys unless precipitated by an outside issue; his bizarre twitter rants (which he claims were the result of a hack) may prove to be just that.
Of course, if all of those issues are smoothed over, then bring him in. Let's get the gang back together! :singing:
You need this one.
Jabar Gaffney has been the most overlooked WR the Patriots have had. Overlooked, somewhat ironically, until *after* he was gone. Then, we wanted him back, as we should have...
In 2006, it seems like he didn't get nearly enough reps until the playoffs (where he was big in the divisional game)
In 2007, he essentially got overlooked and replaced in the first 8 games due to our FA splurge; until he proved to be better than Stallworth
In 2008, he had that one game where he dropped a key pass, and was chided a little too hard by fans
In 2009 it wasn't even funny how badly we needed another notable WR to keep our offense from being totally predicable(Moss deep, Welker checkdown), exactly as Belichick described in that NFL-N doc
I was just going to post this, I really like Jabar Gaffney and agree there are only two WR in our corps that he isn't an upgrade over. That being said, the guy is going through a rough time in his life and is anybody else worried about his current mental state considering the circumstances.

Bring him back! ! ! He was clutch and Brady and him have a great chemistry. I would take him over Gonzalez, Stallworth, or Ochocinco any day.
Dump Stallworth and sign Gaffney. Gaffney supplanted Stallworth in 2007. Why not do it again?
Right now, Gaffney would be third on the Pats' depth chart.
