Really, really, really sucks right now.
It's been a long season, and probably hard to remember where we began. Were people really picking the Jets to win the division? The Patriots were done, their time had passed. The Jets were going to win the division. Until the Bills beat us and shared the division lead.
At 5-3 after a loss to the Giants, suddenly this team might not even make the play-offs. We had a slot receiver at corner, a corner at safety, and yet this team found a way to win 10 in a row, to come back from large deficits, to win their first play-off game in over 3 years, and to make it back to the Superbowl.
I think about what could have been, and yeah, it sucks. But I'm proud of how far this team has come, how much they've persevered. And even with the loss, the team's future is somehow even brighter.
5 of the 6 captains are signed through at least 2014, with the only exception being Matthew Slater. The Boston TE Party is here through 2013, as are the starting LB corps. We have our future RBs in place already, the key parts of the secondary back for another run, and 4 picks in the first 2 rounds of the draft.
There are brighter days ahead. It's hard to see them right now, but they're there.
