America and Americans may be all about free speech and they may stand behind even their most henoiusly speaking citizens - Israel, on the other hand, doesn't seem to have the same idealism.

This is what they had to say about Sam Bacile, a 56-year-old California real estate developer, who said he wrote, produced and directed the movie which has the Muslim world all upset.

Libyan president apologizes for death of U.S. ambassador

In other words, there is nothing wrong with not wanting to bring trouble upon one's self or one's country and there is nothing wrong with saying so.

Now if America, via it's government, tried to distance themselves from Bacile, they'd be called "apologists," Muslim-lovers, Jew-haters, cowards and dictators.

Do you feel that way about Israel's reaction to him?

Who cares, he can say whatever he likes. That's the beauty of freedom of speech. Unless you only want to selectively back it. Is that what you want to do MrMrs?

The Israeli's have to worry about Iranian nukes + Obama's disdain for their PM who apparently is less important than D Letterman.

Once again, you ignore the main topic and go off on some made-up tangent in an effort to derail the thread.

Is he really a citizen of Israel? It's not uncommon for people to claim Israeli citizenship, especially so-called "Messianic Jews".

It's not like Israel has problems with controversy. They have no trouble claiming the creators of Ahmed and Salim, which I'm sure is far more vulgar than whatever film Bacile has made.

So, am I to assume that the left is taking the position that Israel should recognize Bacile and the right has taken the opposite? That's how it seems to shake out on this board, but I personally have a hard time keeping up with how the partisan lines are drawn.

Also, why am I still here? It's football season now.

Look, I'll just pop in and mention that whoever this fu(ktard is, he's named after a bacterium.

Oh yeah also I condemn everybody.

    Bye now.

So you're saying freedom of speech is more important to Americans than it is to Israeli's...and I'd say all of us here on this board are proud to admit that to be true.

Does what anyone in America does represent America? Absolutely not, that goes without saying and anyone who believes what one person does represents an entire nation is an idiot and any country who believes that is a savage country....simple as that.

    Heh, good point.

Anyone who thinks that's a furious Israeli reaction should read a bit more...or just watch Munich.

So what you're saying is that it was done to "blame it on the Jews"? Oy, where have I heard that theme before???

No, I think it was done to do exactly what it did do - inflame Muslims in the Mid-East.

I think being able to blame it on the Americans and the Jews was just icing on the cake.

What do you think the movie was made for?

The guy who allegedly did this is now being reported as a "coptic christian"..

Nakoula Basseley Nakoula, says he was involved with the production of the movie... Bassely, Bacile??? Some like there is some commonality here.

Well, we know Coptic Christians are always left alone... no one goes after them so no impetus to start a problem.

To inflame the Muslims by blaming it on the Jews/Americans, a two-fer as it was. We're in agreement on this.
