I wish there would be some opportunity for lasting peace in the region, but given the recent hostilities in Gaza, it appears the citizens there will unfortunately elect a more extremist right-wing leader.

Israel's Elections: Making a Hard Right - TIME

I really hope it's not Lieberman or Netanyahu:

[Netanyahu's support may also be eroding because Israeli right-wingers have found a new champion, Avigdor Lieberman, 50. A Moldovan-born immigrant and ex-nightclub bouncer, Lieberman is denounced by the leftist Israeli press as "a racist" and a nationalist in the mold of Russia's Vladimir Putin. He wants Israeli Arabs to swear loyalty to the Jewish state or lose their voting rights; and he is demanding that borders be re-drawn so that more than 100,000 Israeli Arabs, against their will, would become part of a future Palestinian state. Lieberman's Yisrael Beitenu party is expected to garner 18 to 19 seats, bumping the venerable old Labor party, headed by ex-premier and current defense minister Ehud Barak, 66, into fourth place. As for the rest of the 120-seat Knesset, according to the latest polls, Likud is expected to win 25 to 27 seats there; Kadima 23 to 25 seats.

Israeli voters are also worried that Netanyahu — and his objections to a proposed Palestinian state in the West Bank and Gaza — may clash with the Obama Administration. Netanyahu says he will refuse to stop expanding Jewish settlements in the West Bank and to share Jerusalem as the capital of a future Palestinian state. Both are seen as key to an accord with the Palestinians. Netanyahu also says Israel will stop Iran from building nuclear weapons, by force if necessary, while the White House is making more conciliatory noises towards Tehran lately.]

I noticed there were several stories in the region we'd skipped that were quite germane to Israel, one of Mav's obsessions, the other being Jews in general. He seems to have skipped several rounds of mortar/rocket attacks, as well as the hijacking of 10 UN aid trucks by Hamas, and the UN reaction. When the UN got bent out of shape, Hamas actually said "Ohhhhh we didn't know they were UN trucks we gangsta'd."

This must be because he's brainwashed by the Zionist press into only telling one side of the story.

Eh well. Yes, there was an election in Israel. Since nobody's actually following it, I'll mention that last I heard, it was a hung jury between Livni and Netanyahu (or more accurately, between their parties.) Of course, with 29 and 28 votes respectively, whoever wins will have to put together a coalition.
With 99% of votes counted, Kadima leads Likud 28 to 27 seats - Haaretz - Israel News

61 is the magic number to have a majority, so even both of the largest parties combined would need to pull in a smaller party to form a national unity government. Whoever's the PM will have to reach across the proverbial aisle as we always say here, and as they actually have to do there.

Well here I go again getting the Far Left all riled up, "now hear this" Israel needs a tough guy, Israel needs a fighter, Israel needs a person that won't take any sh!t from anybody, the last thing in this world that Israel needs is a weeping, slobbering, hand wringing liberal pansy running their country.

The tiny little country of Israel is surrounded by blood thirsty bastards who hate their very existance, Israel is surrounded by savages who for hundreds of years have wanted every Jew on this planet dead, Israel is all alone over there and they are right in the middle of the same kind of people who carved off Danny Pearls bloody gurgling head with a steak knife simply because he was a Jew.

Jews all over the world should learn the old street motto "never trust a do gooder" Jews all over the world should stay clear of people like Jimmy Carter.

Israel should remember that it was Left Wing Liberals that rose to their feet at Columbia Univ and gave that scumsucking little creep from Iran a standing ovation, that little Creep is the guy that wants to Nuke them.

Even if Livni narrowly wins, she will need to cater to the extremist right wing thug leaders in Israel, who liberals in that country have said are basically racists who want apartheid and fascism.
