Rams bring Bruce back with three-year contract
March 10, 2006
CBS SportsLine.com wire reports

ST. LOUIS -- The St. Louis Rams have agreed to a new contract with Isaac Bruce, five days after releasing him.

With $7.5 million more available under the new deal between the league and its players union, the Rams announced they have agreed to terms on a new three-year deal with their longest-tenured player. They had said they had hoped to bring him back once the labor dispute was settled.

The 33-year-old four-time Pro Bowl wide receiver was approached by other NFL teams in the five days but now comes back for a 13th season that began when the team was in Los Angeles.

"I'm excited that we have worked out a deal," coach Scott Linehan said. "I'd been optimistic all along that we would be able to get this done."

Bruce was entering the final year of a seven-year, $42 million contract he signed in 2000.

Bruce had a salary cap figure of $10 million for next season. He was due a $1.5 million roster bonus Monday, the first day of the free agency period, along with an $8.1 million salary.

Bummer, he'd look good, though it sets a nice precedent as we watch the Willie situation resolve itself.

Rams made sure he wasn`t out there long.
Hope you see that pats

With Bruce off the market, that now leaves Givens and Randal-El all by themselves as the top 2 WR's in free agency. As a result: Today, the Givens and Randal-El stock price just spiked up another $400K per year, and sealing any dim hope of Givens's return to N.E.
