Is saying "Happy Holidays" an assault on Santa; I mean Jesus? Why does Fox News fixate on this non-issue every single year?

I don't give a toss about religion but say Merry Christmas to people.

Is Fox at it again? O'Reilly or somebody else?

My company just sent out holiday cards to clients and vendors. Hope O'Reilly doesn't find that offensive. If any recipients somehow take a gesture of goodwill the wrong way, it says something about them.

Fox is all over it once again.

I have been in the workforce since the early '90's and the Company's I worked for always sent out Happy Holidays cards.

this is what the right wing does... distract from real issues, where they're routinely backed into an unethical corner with no way out, and onto stupid crap like this that doesn't have a conclusion and doesn't really matter at all...

this way, nothing ever has to get done to acknowledge real societal problems, and their goal of making the "socialist" president look bad stays constant, to the detriment of the "lower" classes.

deflection and distraction are things cons have been perfecting for many years now. Unfortunately, the country is no longer fooled by their tired games, and as a result, they don't have a viable candidate to challenge the very vulnerable incumbent. ... In essence, no matter how compromised the left's ideals and solutions ultimately have become, they're still infinitely better than the alternative, and always will be.

    Happy Holidays.

Fox news recognizes the secret plot of our founders when they left any mention of Jesus or Christianity out of our founding documents. Their secret plan from the start was to DESTROY Christianity, and very cleverly their plan has seeped into the American soul so much that evil people today greet each other with "Happy Holidays" rather than "Merry Christmas."

Fox News Viewers Know Less Than People Who Don't Watch Any News: Study

Fox News viewers are less informed than people who don't watch any news, according to a new poll from Fairleigh Dickinson University.

The poll surveyed New Jersey residents about the uprisings in Egypt and the Middle East, and where they get their news sources. The study, which controlled for demographic factors like education and partisanship, found that "people who watch Fox News are 18-points less likely to know that Egyptians overthrew their government" and "6-points less likely to know that Syrians have not yet overthrown their government" compared to those who watch no news.

Fox News, the favorite station of Tea Party activists, in two studies has been shown to attract uninformed viewers and apparently does a good job keeping them uninformed.

I voted "I don't care"...because in the end, people will get what the majority want.

I read an article (forget where) that said that today's Christmas has little to do with the REAL Christmas (Christian Christmas). So why not make Christmas a yuletide holiday for everyone?

Because non-christians have been celebrating it for years...not the Christian way, but more in the "spirit of he holiday". The article cited "Twas the night before Christmas", the invention of Santa Claus and "A Christmas Carol" for transforming Christmas from a quiet Christian holiday into the one we know today.

So if it's important for people to acknowledge the birth of Jesus on Dec. 25th, then we have that choice and shouldn't care what others do.

But at least let's all wish one another a Merry Christmas for Santa's sake!

I can't stop anyone from having an opinion of me. But if I could choose the person I'd most want to not like me, it would be you hands down.

The holiday that is coming up on Dec 25th is Christmas.

When a loopy do loon says Happy Holiday they are in all reality saying Happy Christmas.

The "happy holiday" that the ball busters wish you is called Christmas the whole world knows it.

    "happy holiday harry"
    "f-ck you"

Obama is launching SCUDs at the North Pole as we speak.

    On the real...

If you watch FOX news, you think there is a war on Christmas. If you are a normal person, you have other things to do with your anger/freetime.

    Happy Holidays!

harry again showing he cares only about Christians...

and apparently has no idea what New year's is....

As I've stated before here, anybody who gets offended by being wished "happy holidays" is a miserable human being.

(and same goes for anybody who gets offended by being wished Merry Christmas... though I don't know a single person who has been)

If you are dealing with a Republican then 'holidays' means Christmas and New Years Day. That's the only (ha ha) reason for plural.

If you are dealing with anyone else, its whatever holiday matters to them, Hanukkah, Rahmadan even Festivus if they're Seinfeld fans.

Reminds me of an atypical Rhode Island Conundrum, the governor wanted to call the tree a "holiday tree", so the religious folks who want to break down the first amendment... wanted to call it a christmas tree. Poof, the airwaves lit up with this nontroversy filling 4 hours every day for the past 2 weeks, it even made national news.

The Tea Party from Mass, who did not have a dog in this fight, sent their wolves to the Holiday Tree Lighting, the news was there hoping for some type of violence or other shenanigans..

It is all so silly, abeit stupid..

President Obama calls the tree delivered to the white house a Christmas tree. Heck, the white house and US gov't officially calls it the National Christmas tree lighting ceremony.

    http://www.whitehouse.gov/photos-an.../01/national-christmas-tree-lighting-ceremony

To each their own...nothing wrong either way. The tree is for Christmas...you can not deny that fact. This country is never going to change the name of the holiday, so why the fuss?

I think there are busy-bodies that have nothing better to do than to make sure that words like Christmas and Easter are never used during their respective seasons. They tell employees to avoid using them with customers and ban them in schools. Ridiculous substitute words like "spring spheres" are coined so as not to suggest a religious preference. Seriously lighten up. Calling for an Easter egg hunt in school and decorating a "Christmas" tree is not a conscious attempt at proselytizing.

On the other side there are those that do seem to want to shove "Christmas" down everyones throats early and often and feel threatened if someone simply says "happy holidays". You guys have to lighten up too. Sheesh!

Maybe stores shouldn't even play CHRISTMAS carols anymore. We don't want to make someone feel they don't belong.

The sad thing is that a chain may get 100 complaints about Christmas stuff while 50 million are ok with it...but the chain responds to political correctness. Let those 100 people shop else where!

    Maybe they should only play the generic ones like Burl Ives;

    Silver & Gold
    Holly, Jolly Christmas
    Misfits
    Rudolph the Red Nosed Reigndeer

I don't think anyone ever gave this issue any thought until the the religious right and their minions started making a big deal of it.

Happy Holidays is a natural expression when you don't know what religion someone is. After all, only 75% of Americans identify themselves as Christians.

I have never heard the expression "spring spheres" until now, and it's absurd to compare the weird idea of one Seattle teacher to the coordinated effort by the right wing to attack the innocuous expression happy holidays.

If we really want to worry about Christmas, then let's challenge the commercialization of that holiday, but frankly when it comes to money, the religious right tends to throw Jesus and the Bible out the window IMHO.

Patters, the right reacted to a steady and increasing frequency of political correctness over a period of time. The weight of that political correctness over the years can get to ya just as having Christmas shoved down your throat can. Agreed that now they're overreacting and I just told them to lighten up.

My point is that it has come to this big deal because of religious and non-religious minions jockeying for some kind of dominance. The fact is most people don't have anything but good intentions by saying "Merry Christmas" or "Happy Holidays", Why do we always have to try and read something other than that into it?

It's not just Christmas, the Left Wing Liberals are hell bent on changing the whole country to satisfy their own crazy whacky way of looking at things.

One of the best ones I ever heard was from "Old Pant Suit Hillary" herself, she once suggested that "Man Hole Covers" be called "Person Hole Covers" even the Moonbat Society Of Nuts had to laugh at that one.

If you don't like somebody saying "happy holiday" to you simply smile and say "F-ck You" you'll feel great.

GOD WILLING You Will All Have A Merry CHRISTmas.
    HAPPY BIRTHDAY JESUS

Jon Stewart showed the invitation from the prior governor, who was a Republican -- and also called it a "holiday tree lighting"

funny how Fox apparently had no problem with that.

Well, move that one from the "true" bin in your brain to the "lie" bin because there's absolutely nothing to be found which gives it credence. Not even on a right wing blog.

Republican presidential front-runner Newt Gingrich waged a quiet war on Christmas — or at least the Capitol Christmas Tree — shortly after becoming speaker of the House in 1995.

In a time of heightened political correctness, Gingrich preferred “Holiday Tree” over “Christmas Tree,” according to sources familiar with the annual tree-lighting ceremony at the foot of the Capitol.
