Not necessarily. To be a real leader here you have to be all in. Mayo is, but's he's still young and he's been injured a lot and it's hard to lead from the tub. Vince is a leads by example guy, he does his job, but he's a teddy bear character with teamates. I know he had his own issues in 2009, but he wasn't calling AD out... And he tends to get emotional when his buddies get cut...and he's hangin with Ocho and Evelyn has become one of Bianca's BFF's... Just sayin... They don't have a guy like Willie who even when he wasn't starting scared the crap out of kids like Brady...or a Tedy or a Rodney who would take a guy aside and recap the rules or make a rookie wish he'd been drafted by any other team...
After the AD release and after his deal was done Vince was initially vocal but it was generalities. He said at the time if you can't bring what I bring I don't want you on the field with me. This team needs a couple of front line guys on this defense who have the stature and the personality to make that the mantra on this team. I think Brady could do more of it but he's been saddled with too many fragile egos and youngsters who struggle with criticism to keep engaged for the last few seasons...so he tend to be diplomatic, although he does preach the demanding all in BB have to be better, do more, work harder mantra. And he is reportedly a little more vocally and specifically critical behind closed doors, although the one time he got on Moss in a practice situation he had to call and soothe the ego afterwards... So with some guys it doesn't work.
I mean, what can a beteran guy like Haynesworth say to the youngsters...work harder and bring it every week and push through whatever ails you?? You think Vince is saying that to him??? I don't. And Bill has always relied on his veteran leaders to police effort and focus because players tend to tune coaches out after a while. They need to hear it from their peers.
