Rumor has it that because the Bears have no 1st or 2nd round picks they signed tight end Brandon Manumaleuna and might trade Greg Olsen for a draft pick. Is it worth it to trade one of our seconds for him? He seems like he is on the verge of becoming a big time T/E.

I'd offer a conditional 2011 third if they want rid. Buyers market and what have you.

He'd need to be used in the passing game though, because he's a poor blocker.

Good hands, decent speed, smart. Not the best blocker out there but very athletic. I'd give them a 4th this year and a 7th next season.

My friend(huge bears fan) and I were talking about this yesterday and this is a trade we came up with that both made us happy.
We trade #47 to the Bears for Olsen and the bears 3rd round pick.

That way we still have 2 in the 2nd, grad an early 3rd and get Olsen. Bears get back into the high middle of the second in this years draft, which they desperately need.

He is well worth a 2nd round pick. I believe he has 2 very cheap years left on his contract. If this team were to go back to Brady under center more often. Olsen could blow up in this offense! He was basically the only weapon CHI had and he still put up great numbers drawing lots of attention.

I agree 100%. His speed is excellent, he has cold weather experience, and his blocking has improved greatly since he got to Chicago. His contract is manageable and his route running and hands are better than average.

Martz offense is not a 2 TE offense,so I would do the third second rounder for Olsen and a 2011 3rd or 4th rounder.

I would do this in a heart beat. I like Olsen alot, we know all of the measureable's so no need to post those again. To me a player with this amount of upside and if it's true they want a two is a good deal for us. They need picks, and we need a te. I like Olsen in our offense as a pass catcher, a blocking te can be found out there, Baker could always be brought back.

Why would BB bring back Baker? Peek or Dray are excellent college blockers and can be secured on day three of the draft.

    Bingo.

re: Pitta - I saw some blocking on TV in their bowl game and the Senior Bowl, the tools are clearly there. His battery mate George would be a nice UDFA prospect too, he got more blocking assignments, but he was at least as good as preseason Baker in the receiving department.

I think it really depends on how the offense is going to look next season without Welker. If we keep the same style and just insert Edelman in Welker's role, we don't really need a pass-catching TE that cost us a 2nd round pick. We had one of those last season and didn't make much use of him.

If we're going to modify things and get the TE more involved, run the ball more and do more play-action passing, I'm still not sure if Olsen is a good enough blocker to justify it. If he is, maybe then...but those 2nd round picks are really valuable in this deep draft. Just because we have 3 of them doesn't mean we should waste them like they're burning a hole in our pocket.

With Moss at the Z and Edelman in the slot, we do not have anybody for the X receiver position. Any TE with NFL experience and speed that can stretch the field, even if they can't block as well as Graham, is a valuable commodity in our offense.

Pitta's a good candidate for that role. I actually like Houmanmanmanmanma out of Illinois as a 7th or PFI for that role. He looks to be about as good as Kyle Brady (the old version) in both the running and passing game.

Any NFL TE with speed to stretch the defense.

But is it worth a second round pick in this draft? I'd think (or hope might be the right word) that we'd be able to find an equivilant or better receiver in the draft with that pick.

I have no problem with Olsen in this offense. Just not for the price of a 2nd rounder.

BB has no use for a TE who can't block well. And a 2nd round pick in this year's draft is too valuable to give up for an incomplete player. I'd say take our chances in the draft, see if we can pick up an extra 3rd round pick and draft a guy like Graham or maybe Pitta in the 4th.

Watson is a free agent who is testing the free agent market. I would welcome his re-signing.

At what cost? I'd consider him at the vet minimum.
