I'm not sure of the specifics, but I tend to say good for Ireland. Sounds like it might have consitituted a loss of some soveriegnty for them, so I can't blame them for rejecting it if that is the case.
The N.A. Union is coming sooner than people think. Not a good thing for any of us.
I don't think it's that big a deal. Norway did the same thing. But, then these countries make so many treaties with the other EU countries that they're practically members anyway in terms of trade, travel, and most other things.
God Bless the Irish. That's the smartest thing they ever could have done. So many Italians wish they could do the same. The EU is becoming like the blob.
The Irish are proving how they have survived all these years. A tough country with a tough people. Their toughness was evident to this country during our peak imigration years. Hard working fiercely loyal people who take a backseat to nobody. That toughness continues to this day and they deserve the applause for standing up to a bunch of crap that was merely crafted to hand more power to the already powerfull.
