A day old but still....provocation anyone? Thought, The Iraqi's may feel they're army isn't ready to take on the Iranians and Iran is taking advantage of the situation. Where do we come in, could we possibaly be drawn in by an accident.

BAGHDAD — The Iranian government said Saturday that an oil field that its troops occupied a day earlier was on its side of the border with Iraq, despite Iraqi claims to the contrary.

A group of about 11 Iranian soldiers seized a portion of the remote Fakka oil field in Maysan Province in southeastern Iraq early Friday, according to Iraq.

Government officials in Baghdad said they had summoned the Iranian ambassador to protest the military action, but diplomatic efforts had so far failed to resolve the dispute.

Ramin Mihman-Parast, a spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, denied on Saturday that Iranian soldiers were occupying an Iraqi oil field, said the Iranian state news agency.

    I read that story ...

I'm thinking it has something to do with when they drill sideways to get to the oil.

Just a guess on my part though.

This cuts both ways, we could use it as an excuse to slap Iran down.

A Great example of how Obama can influence people with his diplomatic triumphs, The Iranians know he and the dems are weak and will exploit it. Think this wouldhave happened if Bush/Cheney was in charge?

I should have finished my thought that iran is testing the government of iraq to see how they respond. Iraq Better do something, or iran will just do this again. I could see the iraqi army or SF going in backed by us with covert air support.

Ha!....PF13, were you on EARTH during the Bush administration?

When Bush and Cheney were "In Charge" Iraq was massing WMDs and palling around with Al Qaeda terrorists. They were SO afraid of Bush and Cheney that they were ordering alluminum tubes, and purchasing yellow cake uranium....

    IF you believe that story....

so to answer your dumb question .... F-YEAH!

When DADDY BUsh was in charge... they must've been so afraid of him that they invaded another country....

Well Iraq responded and Iran left.......

Iraq sends forces to oil well seized by Iran - Yahoo! News

BAGHDAD – Iraq deployed security forces Saturday near a remote oil well seized by Iran, officials said, and its government pressed Tehran to withdraw its forces from the area along their disputed southern border.

U.S. officials applauded Iraq for standing its ground against Iran —

Iraqi army and police reinforcements were sent to a staging ground about a half-mile (1 kilometer) from well No. 4 at the al-Fakkah oil field, according to two Iraqi officials close to the site. Both spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the issue with the media.

One of the Iraqi officials said Iranian soldiers came and went from the oil well throughout Saturday. They were gone by the evening, leaving behind an Iranian flag mounted at the well, the official said.
