I guess its a pretty clear choice now.The "party of life and freedom" vs. the "party of death and taxes."

Hmmm...IIRC, it was the republicans who spearheaded the fight to ban online poker gambling 5 or 6 years ago. Suddenly it's internet freedom time.

Clearly it's an election year.

Somehow the party of "life and freedom", forgets the Iraq Crusade and/or the Patriot Act..

Did you know that the Republicans were banning any puppets from near the convention.. how does that fit the freedom BS???? Guess they do not believe that people can express themselves through puppetry....

You talkin to me? Tell me about it.

They have "evolved" like Obama did on the gay issue. Good enough for me.

Obama position was the same as Akins was on Gay marriage 3 mos. ago.

He closed gitmo, but was overruled by the boys in the House of Representatives.. how the right often forgets the facts.

The Patriot act was also extended by Congress... your beloved congress led by John the Crybaby Boehner...

The Republicans do not give a rats ass about freedom, they even want to control women's bodies..

So he can override the vote on Guantanamo??? Even if he were to veto it, he has not funds to do something different. He closed it, but was overridden.

That is pretty basic civics.. this is about how the right loves freedom, and nothing could be further from the truth....

They will not even allow puppets near the convention..

The right so loves freedom, they operationalize it by wanting to insert probes into women's vagina's...

Right over your head meng....not once did I mention (or bold) gitmo... I was referring to the Patriot Act (and you know it)....and if you dont, reread the part of your post I bolded.

And enough with the bizarre talking points, my post history on this board shows where I stand on issues.

Here is a quote, regarding the Patriot Act renewal, from Obama.

The ACLU says Obama can do a lot more to get it closed. I've always though Obama wants it both ways. That is blame Republicans for it still being open while comfortable with it staying open for security reasons. I think he changed his mind when he got real world briefings after he became Commander in Chief(just my theory)

He said he signed it because it was part of a bigger bill that enough important things in it that kept him from vetoing it. Again it's just my opinion but i think that's just an excuse because he's pretty much ignored it since.

It is just like the Bush tax cuts. He could have gotten rid of them but did not. He could have closed gitmo when he had the super-majority.

The truth is Republican politicians AND Democrat politicians are rich and do not want the tax cuts gone. If the Republicans came out tomorrow and told Obama he had the green light to close gitmo, and tax the rich all he wants he would be screwed because he knows he is not allowed to.

Without regard, the right does not love freedom all that much or any more than the left.. it is pretty much a face off, probably a draw.. each party has their own beliefs in freedom, and their own beliefs or the lack thereof..

The Patriot Act is a bipartisan initiative/project; one of the few things on which Repubs and Dems agree.

Obama failed to close Gitmo for myriad reasons. Gitmo will be closed only after our national security apparatus advises that they have no further use for it. The pressure on the President, any President, will be considerable, and perhaps irresistible, in this regard. I don't like it any more than most, but that's the way the cookie crumbles.
