If you like the new overtime rules, you can thank Patriots owner Robert Kraft. Turns out that Kraft, at the request of league higher ups, persuaded several owners to change their votes in order for overtime to pass. That is one powerful dude.
 
Kraft must have read Chris Gasper's article from Sept 2009 then, because Chris Gasper basically came up with the new system in an article he wrote, and after the season the rule changes were exactly what he proposed.
 
Not nearly as powerful as Polian however when it comes to influencing those who call the game on the field.
 
I don't think Kraft came up with the concept. He sees himself as a consiliator and concensus builder and the league regularly taps him for that role. The result isn't always a grand success however, as the current CBA underscores...
