    That would be a horrible draft for the Pats.

    I think I'd stop watching football if that draft happened.

    There should be special Draft Thursday focus on Clausen, Tebow, Odrick and Bryant. There are huge discrepancies in evaluating the value of each of these players. Each players has top analysts differing in evaluation by half a round. That huge on Day One for four different players.
    ================================================

    That being said, I am absolutely fine with Belichick trading up for Bryant. It is a matter of trusting Belichick to understand the value of Bryant and the valuew over the next 5-6 years of our other wide receivers.

    Finally, GBN is one of the worst mockers out there.

    I like to print off their top 100 at the end of the college football season and then compare it to their final revision.

    One player that really caught my eye this year is Dan Williams. I do a lot of SEC games and in my mind Dan Williams is a late second to early third round pick based on production on the field. At the end of the season GBN had him at #90, which is even lower than my ranking of Williams. Now they have him well up into the first round.

    So what changed? Other mocks? Buzz? A good off season?

    If the GBN would stay true to the tape, i think his website would be more creditable, because at the end of the season, he has a lot of players pegged correctly based on producton on the field.

    The tape is critical. However, folks play in different systems and against different levels of competition. Lots can change after the end of the season.
    1) post season games and practices
    2) health level (obviously critical for those who could not play a full 2009 season)
    3) combine numbers (how fast, quick and strong are they really) and pro date numbers (another chance to show that one really isn't that slow or stiff).
    4) individual tryouts (an opportunity to test skills particularly important for your team)
    5) background checks and individual interviews (these are critical in assessing off-field issues, character issues, and attitude issues.

    An example of the value of the offseason is in the evaluation fo wide receivers. Just based on tape, the conclusion would be that some players just can't haven't run a full route tree.
    In the several offseason opportunities, receivers have an opportunity to demonstrate what they can and cannot do, and what learning still needs to take place. Some wide receivers are pro-ready, some are not. Some can start as a slot receiver, some (most?) need a year or more of seasoning and nfl experience before they can be counted on.
    ===================

    All the above being said, many analysts and many teams underestimate the importance of actual production on the field, and overestimate combine and other numbers. This has gone on for a very long time. There have been many workout warriers and track stars that have failed in the nfl.

    I could see this happening... just not for Bryant. At least not if Morgan's still available.

    If he truly rates as a top 5 talent, then it would be a terrific trade. This team does need to groom a replacement for Moss, as well as find someone to play on the opposite side. I'd hate to lose 2 picks, but talent wise, it'd be a terrific play. I'm just not sure if the Pats view Bryant so highly.

    I think Bryant is over-rated. Not sure why he is considered a top 5 talent.

    When Hell freezes over.

    So let me get this straight; we would not trade 2 seconds for Denver's problem child but now we trade up in the first to get an unproven problem child. I don't think so...

    I'd rather take my chances letting Bryant fall. If he's there at 22 take him, if not go with a Kindle or Brandon Graham. Possibly Jermanine Gresham.

    If you're going to trade up that high and give up 22 and 44 do it if Rolando McClain is on the board.

    This^^^x54153431, Why would getting a top 10 talent make somebody cry, yet going with a guy like Odrick who is barely an upgrade over Wright would make everybody happy. Odrick is more likely to bust on the field than Bryant! People need to start watching college football and stop listening to tabloids and watching senior bowl practices. And how is it a horrible draft for the Pats when you haven't seen the rest of the picks?! lol

    That first pick would be my "toss a brick at my TV" scenario. Not only picking Bryant, a player I really (really!) dislike. But trading way up for him to boot. :mad:

    How are you comparing Dez Bryant to Brandon Marshall? Come on man, get the facts straight.

    Sure, there are questions about Bryant's maturity, but to compare him to someone who has had TONS of run ins with the law is flat out stupid. Bryant has never had any run in the authorities....
