The $720 million stadium opening in a declining economy must have something to do with it

Looking at colts caps Colts Salary Cap - Colts Cap They are already 2 million over before FA. I'm guessing Harrison restructures or gets cut.

They should cut Peyton, they'd save like $20mil. Maybe trade him to Detoit. :D

I don't think that has an effect. The stadium is sold out and most of it was funded with public monies.

If Polian talks to the press about contract type stuff, then it's to gain an advantage. They are trying to resign Kelvin Hayden right now and that is probably the reason for the comments.

There are several options for the Colts to get under the cap, including cutting Harrison. It will be interesting to see how that plays out.

Year after year the Colts are right up against the cap. And year after year Polian makes it work. The CBA and the uncapped year make this year different, but I'm sure he will figure out a way to get it done

I'll be very curious to see what the Colts do with Jeff Saturday. It seemed to me that the Colts' offense, and their running game in particular, was in disarray in the games he missed last year. This will probably be his last NFL contract, so if he's looking for one last big payday then he may be gone. I know some of the websites that rate and rank free agents are a little down on him because of injury issues, but I still consider him one of this year's top free agents. The Colts would then probably need to use a day one draft pick on a center, rather than another position.

O darn... :) Probably will cut Harrison and rework some contracts, Saturday is a huge part of their offense/line can't see them not resigning him but latest news says they will probably franchise Kelvin Hayden($9.96 million).

LOL just saw this "Colts claimed P Mike Dragosavich off waivers from the Browns."

My gut tells me Saturday will be back. His replacement is on the roster, but was a rook last year. He did decent filling in, but I don't think they are ready to depend on him full time. I think Saturday's age and the fact he had two knee injuries last season will make his demand low. I think they will go for a two year deal at a marginal rate with a possible option after that.

These stadiums always have a mutli-year return on investment meaning they are in debt today and will be for x amount of years. It's tough to take on that much debt in this economy.

Not sure what Marvin Harrison's cap hit is this season but I'd imagine he could be a casualty or restructure candidate for them. I remember him signing that monster contract.

I think it might be 13 mill. They can save 6 mill if they cut him.

But that has no effect on the cap. The cash flow/cost of the stadium has no effect at all on the Colts payroll.

Indy has cap issues every year. But this year there are tough decisions to make with a few aging vets.
Hayden is not leaving. He is 25 years old and a good big physical corner. Polian says they will tag if they have to. I dont even feel he has reached his peak yet. This is not a Jason David or Nick Harper to me. I like Hayden.

I get the feeling Marvin is staying based on what Polian has said but I am not completely sure. He has no injury issues at the moment and I dont think they feel a replacement at receiver is already on the roster. They could draft one though.....Marvin should take a cut though if he wants to stay.

Saturday is the one who might be the odd man out I feel. He is aging as well and injury prone now and missed some games. He opted out of surgery last year. I think Jamey Richard played well in the games he started. Hey he handled some of the best NTs in the game against SD and Cleveland in the regular season. He is very tall but needs to put on some weight I feel. People will say we declined without Jeff but that was mostly early in the season when Peyton was not healthy either and the entire offense was out of it, Peyton also spent no time with the rooks in the offseason. we never had a running game all year no matter who played center.

Polian has Jeff behind Hayden in terms of free agency needs.

And I guess Clark is restructuring his contract to free up money and Sanders may as well. Not sure about Peytons contract.

I wanted Jeff over Marvin if possible but when I think about it we have a replacement for Jeff and not for Marvin that I feel comfortable with. I would like to keep everyone but as of now the only person I say is absolultey staying is Hayden. I hate to lose Jeff or Marvin but its the business. We never do much in FA but try to keep our own guys if we can and at least this year we have a first round pick.

We'll see......I always try to remain optimistic.

That sounds about right. Unless he agrees to a pay cut, he may end up cut, which will be hard to see.

The problem is, hes been doing it by pushing back manning's salary with bonuses, and doing the same with a handful of other players. If they're in cap trouble right now, they better hope next year ends up uncapped. If it does, it'll fix everything. If not, they're screwed.

I agree, but he's talking about changing the site for training camp because of the current financial situation.
