Would you go to battle for Ronald Reagan or the myth associated with him??

While he was president he was not well liked by the Republicans, but when he began to chase butterflies they loved him, now that he is dead they love him even more....

    Lets see:
Signed a very liberal abortion law while Governor of California
Negotiated with the Iranians during the summer before he was elected
    Iran Contra nuff said
    Amnesty to all illegal aliens
Did not retaliate after the Barracks in Lebanon were bombed and 241 marines and sailors were killed
Raised taxes something like 11 times
    Increased the federal deficit exponentially
He tried to classify ketchup and relish as a vegetables to cut cost on school lunches

I just was into the speech:singing: I figured I would start something to get our minds off this khadaffi BS I'm sick of Omar Khadafi and I am glad he is gone

I didn't know that about Lebanon? I am an independent fyi. but in a way that is similar to GW not going into Bora Bora after Usama B.

Oh don't be divisive. Go out and punch Kadhafi, or Bin Laden.

    Oh, that's right :)

Ronald Reagan was a senile old racist who after screwing up the economy and causing unemployment to rise to 10.8% (higher than it ever was under Obama), finally started raising taxes and creating record deficits to get the economy under control. He made up all sorts of lies about welfare queens driving Cadillacs and launched his campaign using racist language in Philadelphia, MS. The only good thing he did (and it was really good) was liberal: trusting Gorbachev enough to end the Cold War. The only ones who opposed his efforts in that regard were the Republicans, some of whom condemned him, and most of whom stayed remarkably quiet.

Is this post of yours sort of way to respond to the fact that Obama has been so much more successful against terrorism than any of his Republican predecessors. Let's remember that Ronnie cut and ran from Lebanon after terrorists murdered 240 American troops.

Amen. Ronald Reagan is far and away the best and most beloved president of the past generation or two.

You've forgotten the RW meme -- Bush wasn't a "real Republican." The GOP could barely stand the guy...

i was inspired by that video to make an open thread... it was pretty bad ass and well done:)

I just wanted to talk RR and it seems we are doing so. How is this man considered the bulwark of American conservatism and a beacon of the Conservative Party? Curious as to why many GOP bring up his name and regard him (as some kind of savior)

    Is this entire board Liberal?

    1 hell of a speech!!!

It was a rousing speech. It woould have sounded better if the writer of that speech had given it to someone else- someone who had actually fought in a war and knew something about the danger and sacrifice that war and fighting involves. Someone who wasn't an actor faking it.

Too bad. I liked Ronnie. He was the last President who didn't have to operate under the crushing weight of the cable media, which was in its infancy during his terms. He also got along with Tip Oniel and had a pretty "effective" run. He was also oppsed to racism since early on in life, which at the time wasa unusual. Ironically, this speech was partr of the drive to build the nuclear arsenal he would later loathe and attempt (in vain) to eliminate.

RR was a disgrace to this country, he was owned and operated by big corps and big money, was a lair and a coward. 19 TIMES 19 TIMES HE RAISED THE DEBT CEILING! SOLD GUNS TO TERRORISTS! AND A SLEW OF OTHER THINGS!

So the guy can give great speeches, to bad actions will always speak louder then words......:bricks:

    I would piss on this man's grave.....

Right now, the slant of the board is tilted left in my opinion, but it goes back and forth. It will tilt right again, perhaps soon.
